Absolutely loved this pub. Great ale. Great food. Stunning historic location in the hidden away village of Heydon, Norfolk.Worthy of a visit.

·

Lovely food but portions too large for me (being rural I guess a hard working farmer could do it justice). Service good and pretty lication.

·

What a lovely pub! Really good food at a very reasonable price. Lovely attentive staff, and right in front of the beautiful village green, couldn't be better.

This pub is an absolute gem with delicious home cooked food. Jo offers her customers great service and the warmest of welcomes.

Atmospheric, homely old pub with original fixtures and fittings and rather a lot of stuffed birds and pictures of racehorses - which means the ladies' loo with its sparkly, iridescent white walls comes as something of a shock. I suspect it's something of a practical joke on the part of the landlords! Great big appetising plates of Sunday dinner - far too splendid to be diminished by calling them simply 'lunch'.

What a superb old pub this is, thankfully unmodernised and original - a real gem. We were fortunate enough to have Sunday lunch there this weekend, and I must say it was brilliant, and so was the Pear cider. I plan on visiting again real soon...well done, keep up the good work, and never change!

Great pub in a great village steeped in history. Fabulous Sunday roast, with VERY generous portions. Terrific local ales and excellent service from lovely friendly and helpful staff. Also very good value.

Had Sunday lunch here. An idyllic setting, very English with a village green and even a small brass ensemble to accompany our fine lunch and quality ales! All served in an easy going manner by pleasant and helpful staff. Very good.

If you want a good old fashioned proper pub in a proper village with proper food & proper drinks. You just found it. Jo & H run a gem.

Been here twice now for a Sunday roast. First time was nice...nothing amazing but the second time was not nice at all. There was no flavour to anything. The cauliflower cheese, well, was lacking any cheese - tasted like flour and milk. The veg were over cooked and stripped of any natural flavours and the pork crackling wasn’t cooked through, meaning it was chewy and fatty in most parts. We (the 3 of us) doused our food in salt and pepper just to give it something. Was really disappointed. The village is beautiful and worth coming here for that alone. The service was friendly and quick, could not fault that. However if they want to compete with some of the best country pubs for roasts (and I’ve sampled and reviewed lots) then they need to uk their game somewhat.
