Great food and lovely landlady. Ideal if you are visiting Royal Papworth. Understand this is under new management. Local residents please support.

I won't lie, we were sceptical when we walked in and were the only ones there, but it was about 7pm on a week night. Anyway, the barmaid was welcoming and friendly. We ordered the steak pie which was one of the specials she told us about. I swapped my mash for chips and it was a lovely pie with plenty of filling. By the time we left others had come in. Definitely the place if you want somewhere quiet in the week, with parking as well. We would return.

Whilst staying nearby, we walked past and decided to stop for a drink as I was intrigued by the name. The inside was not quite as we expected (for an 'Ale House'), but we were made welcome and the place was spotlessly clean. Not a great selection of ale on offer but that which I drank was in perfect condition. Would be happy to visit again.

Decided to go to the Hudson as it is within walking distance from the house, so we could have a cheeky glass of wine without having to drive.I love the decor of this venue, and we chose to sit in a booth so we could have a good natter in private. Chose the lasagne and was resigned to have the slightly slimy one you quite often get at restaurants. The lasagne was home cooked and absolutely delicious!! Would definitely go back and eat there again. Good value, good food, good service. Really enjoyable lunch all round. 😊

I usually don’t complain much but this experience is disappointing. We ordered a meat sharing platter which is overpriced, bad quality and definitely not worth the price £18.95. It came with 4 skinniest microwaved pork ribs I’ve ever seen in my life, 4 bad flavoured microwaved dry skinny wings, 4 obviously not fresh corns, slightly okay mac and cheese and some wedges. It was awful but we finished it anyway as we don’t like to waste food especially pre paid food. Beers were alright. So I’m warning you don’t order the sharing platter, maybe other food are fine I don’t know, but don’t order the sharing platter.
