Novi in Cambridge

I came here for a birthday dinner where our party spent almost £400. The table we were given was not big enough and the waiter tried to sit us on two separate tables when the remaining members of the party arrived. The waiter was obviously stressed and snapped at members of the party for standing in his way when they had just arrived. I ordered chips which came with a garlic mayo dip. When I asked if we could get some sauces, the waiter pointed to the mayo and said that that was the sauce. He then asked what else I was after and arranged a pot of ketchup to be brought to the table. I had to get the waiter's attention to pay my part of the bill and was made to feel I was an inconvenience for asking to just pay for what I had ordered. After asking once and a long wait, I asked his colleague if I could pay and she facilitated payment for me. The portions were small and some orders were forgotten.We brought in a substantial amount of money on a Thursday evening but were made to feel like a nuisance. We had booked in advance but our table was not big enough, and the waiter tried to split us into two groups.Furthermore, the chips were tasteless -- salt on the table would make a difference -- and all the portions were small. It's a tapas-style menu. The food is reasonably priced.Customer service could be improved. I tipped solely out of politeness and habit. I am in no rush to come here again.

A reasonable vegan and cocktail selection is about all I can say positively.Service was poor, taking an incredibly long time to get served, pay the bill and when we were served, waiters were uninterested and unhelpful. Food was small portions and expensive for what you get.

Had a booking, turned up on time but took 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge us at the door,I read the reviews and visited thinking the bad service was a one off, but can confirm it’s not.No food or drinks menus provided had to find them ourselves from other tables & had to get up and find staff or flag them down every time you need something. They’re friendly but there’s just not enough of them, venue severely understaffed and unorganised.Shame as could be a great place - but as it is currently - don’t recommend going .

( 1 star because I can not give 0) We visited this bar on Sunday evening. They didn't let one of our friends that was wearing sweatpants because, according to their policy after 10pm you have to dress well ( that’s what the security guard told us) before 10am I can get in my pajamas but after 10am I can not (I think this is a ridiculous rule but, rules are rules). It's funny how a place that has such a strict dress code has a manager whose pants are so low that they show his red underwear! It is also such a fancy place that it required a dress code but the cup they served us with the tea was dirty and with black pieces (not identified) floating. The icing on the cake, a group of guys, who were wearing tracksuit, were quietly let in because they knew the manager. The only positive thing was the girl behind the bar who was extremely nice and helpful! In conclusion overrated bar, would not recommend!

I always thought Ursula from Mad About You and Friends was a very unrealistic waitress, but after experiencing the service at NOVI, I think Ursula could easily find employment there. 2/5 for service: other than them being friendly, the service is pretty much non-existent, with them forgetting about orders even on a pretty empty afternoon, making you wait forever at the bar to pay while to of them are just chatting with each other, or the chef trying desperately to get the waiter to come serve the food with no reaction. These experiences are from three different occasions; we come back because of the nice vibe, good location and 5/5 food and 4/5 drinks. Would recommend going just because of the great food, but don't expect the staff to make you feel like customers matter to them.

Setting and bar is very nice, barman was very friendly and welcoming. Can’t say the same for the floor staff, dismissive and unhelpful. Didn’t explain the type of service, just pointed to a table and just chatted amongst each other for 30 minutes. Not very good that.

Stylish decor and dog friendly with really nice food - what’s not to love? Well the staff were so completely inattentive that ordering was a chore, getting side plates, coffees, and the bill were all an effort. The staff were probably very nice, but to get any sort of service you had to walk up to the bar and pretty much interrupt their conversation. I’ve rarely felt that invisible

Found this place this evening on way back to hotel after seeing Argyle put in a dire display at Cambridge. Not really our typical type of place but it was open late and we needed a stiff drink after that woeful display.Bouncer open and held door for us and welcomed us in. Bar staff very busy making numerous cocktails for people but served us a couple pints relatively quickly and all were very friendly. Place isn't our typical type of place we'd drink, but decor was nice, atmosphere relaxed and all the staff very friendly.

Great cocktails and ordering through the app is great. We were on the roof top terrace, which is a great space, although we were very disappointed there weren't more blankets, cushions and patio heaters. The pictures on the website showed it to be a lot cosier and more intimate so suitable for what we wanted. The space would be much more suitable if visiting in the summer.
