Patisserie Valerie in Cambridge

Visited today to use a voucher given as a gift at Christmas. We had the most amazing afternoon tea. Staff were very friendly and welcoming. Very quick service and love atmosphere. Would definitely recommend and will be returning!

Walked in this place on a Monday afternoon. Wasn’t busy at all. Waited 15 mins to be seated, and wasn’t even seated!! We had to go and seat ourselves. Once we had seated ourselves, I was making eye contact with a waitress to try and get her attention, she comes over eventually after about 20 minutes asking what we wanted. I said we haven’t even had menus yet!! She gave us menus and walked off. We closed our menus to show we were ready and the waitress was no where to be seen. No other waitress in sight. We eventually got fed up after about 45 minutes of waiting, I don’t understand why the place had no waiters or waitresses or what on earth they were doing other than their job. Would give this 0 star if I could as we didn’t even get chance to try the food. Wouldn’t bother with this place on a Monday let alone on a weekend…

Took my partner here for afternoon tea for her birthday. It was not too bad. Nothing that special really. Food was not too bad. Only liked 1 out of the 3 sandwiches. Still have no idea what was in 1. Could definitely do a better range. Scones was the best part. Overall it was good. Abit pricey for what you get really.

Service is goodDessert was delicious but the coffee wasn’t bad.

Stopped by for a cup of tea and a teacake in the morning, good enough but nothing fancy so was surprised for 2 the bill was over £15...smiled they charged us £1.40 for 2 mini pots of jam to go with said teacakes. Toilet facilities, unkempt, in need of decor and dirty. Needless 2 say will never revisit.

Overall it was a great experience. There was some confusion with whether or not we wait to be seated (the sign stated to do so) or to just walk in and sit, so while we waiting for about 30 minutes for a table, other parties were just walking in and snagging empty tables without the employees noticing. But, they were busy and for good reason! We had afternoon tea for 2 and everything was delicious, especially with our deal voucher for £25.

Neither of us ever having had an afternoon tea, we decided to splash out £40 on the so-called Premium Afternoon Tea option.I know VP have had their difficulties, but I’ve always enjoyed the food & coffee at any of their sites I’ve visited in the past so the expectation was fairly high, especially for this price.What a disappointment; mostly soggy, quite frankly odd sandwiches (albeit the cheese & chutney, & the turkey in cranberry bread were tasty, soggy but still tasty), the scones were flat, fruitless & had, I suspect, too much bicarb in them as they tasted nothing like scones just very odd, which were served without butter, just jam & a single pot of cream (but pay for a cream tea & you get a fresh sealed pot to yourself). The cakes were so dry they stuck to your lips, or others were that heavy with creme pat that they fell apart as you tried to take them from the serving plate. No macarons as advertised on the menu, & the warning that substitutes can be made really should be heeded as basically they can serve you whatever they have left over & charge you through the nose for it. Disappointed really doesn’t cover it sufficiently, I hope the fact that I’m unlikely to ever step foot in a VP again probably does.

Very good! We ordered the winter menu, there was a lot of food. The pie was very good. I wouldn’t recommend the risoto. The soup and the desert was very good!The staff is very friendly. Place is clean and cosy.

Nice collection of cakes and pastries. Custard cream and vanilla cakes with fruit toppings were really awesome. However, personally I feel it's overpriced. You get student discount of 10% with your id card.

It is my personal favourite cake shop in town because all the cakes are delicious but not in a very-sweet manner. They offer a wide range of cakes, tarts, and other desserts, suitable for both dining in and taking away. There are also big birthday cakes and celebration cakes available.Although it does not look like a restaurant, actually the breakfast and afternoon tea are also very tasty. A minor weakness is the service. Sometimes, the staff may be too busy to take the order and/or clear up the table promptly. But the food is good. Highly recommended.
