Raja Indian Cuisine in Cambridge

Well, what a pleasure. Family owned for yonks, dedicated to authentic Indian food. Surprisingly poorly known as off the beaten track for Cambridge tourism. Lovely booth seating and real attention to presentation and subtle flavourings. Almost a shame to see any “traditional British curry” types on the menu as it just does not need them. The vegetarian options are superb (see starter in photo). The Tiffin box is like going back to Mumbai (where I once worked).

My wife and I had a lovely meal experience at Raja Cambridge.The staff were very polite and welcoming.The owner Mr Rahman and I discussed pre and post colonial India and he let us know that he personally would be cooking our meal.The result was a beautifully presented platter of fragrant, spicy, inviting cuisine, accompanied by delicious sundries and beverages.Even the rose gold cutlery and dishes added a lovely warming touch of elegance to the table.Mr Rahman checked back on us later and we were more than happy to inform him that we had returned clean plates!Highly recommended. Just returned from a pleasant meal this evening.Staff were very friendly but to be very honest the food was somewhat disappointing. It was wholesome and very clean but really lacked that inspiring spicy flavour that you would expect.Quite surprised by the reviews because in our opinion we have had better elsewhere.Would recommend if you like a good plate of food but when we go out, we expect something more than this.

First order from this restaurant. Food cold when it arrived and had to be reheated. Very disappointed. When people pay good money for food they expect hot food whether collected or delivered as a business you should ensure this. We have had a delivery from Meghna every week and never have we had to reheat it. We thought we would try somewhere different. Back to Meghna for us.

I’m well traveled and this has absolutely the best Indian food experience I’ve had in the UK. Raja himself is a fantastic host and gave great recommendations. The food was excellent. If you like spice my with flavor, I highly recommend the chicken Vindaloo and naan.

First thing off the bat - make a reservation! We were lucky enough to be squeezed in by the owner, on what turned out to be a very busy evening. Excellent service, delicious food, generous servings, all for a great price. I will be visiting again as soon as I come back to Cambridge. A fantastic family restaurant, thank you so much for seating us!

Great food and service! We had no booking and yet were welcomed and seated within seconds. The interior was beautiful and the food authentic. Will definitely return.

Raja Restaurant offers a sophisticated range of Indian and Bangladeshi cuisine, perhaps not from a huge menu, but there is plenty of variety and what they do is done very well. Service is friendly and efficient. The restaurant itself is comfortable, bright and airy, located close to main shopping streets, but just far enough away to offer some peace and quiet. Their takeaway service is also very popular.

Our favourite Indian Restaurant in Cambridge. We have been regular visitors over the past few years. The recent refurbishment has opened up the interior and with lower windows improved the view from inside and outside. I had The Tiffin which was excellent.

The service is second to none, very friendly staff and the food in my honest opinion is by far one of the best I have had in a while. Definitely recommended if you visit Cambridge.
