Excellent. Went there for Mother's Day - food was great esp. the Sunday roasts. The staff were great too. We waited for an extremely long time for our food which turned out to be down to a serious shortage of chefs working the kitchen (due to illness) on probably one of their busiest days of the year. The manageress explained, apologised profusely and gave us a discount on our bill to make up for this, which I thought was kind of her. Overall, we had a really good experience and I'd recommend this pub highly.

This place seems great. Nestled in the heart of Grantchester, it would be the perfect end to a ramble along the river from Cambridge...or so we thought. We arrived yesterday, after a rather hot walk. We had booked a table, but when we arrived, we were told there were no tables left in the dining room. We were squeezed in beside the door, given menus and told that the waiter would be with us in a couple of minutes. So far, OK. Although we perused the menus with horror at the prices - no main courses for less than £17. The children's menu looked far more appealing. But we were willing to shoulder the price for our anniversary meal. But half an hour later, no one had come to even take a drinks order, let alone a food order. Streams of people were flooding in and were being shown to tables, despite the pub being at capacity. Many of them were offered drinks before us. Overhearing that there was a 45+ minute wait for food after having already been there for half an hour with no service, and no water, we walked out. The staff saw us leave and didn't say anything. We then had to make the 45 minute walk back to Cambridge to get food - which was not good as a type 1 diabetic who was banking on eating in Grantchester. We were incredibly disappointed and won't be visiting again. I could understand the delay if we had not booked, but we had. Not acceptable.

Delicious Sunday roast! With vegetarian options and good cocktails like aperol and pimms. The sticky pudding cake is just amazing. Very friendly and great service. Super busy on weekends so you been book in advance

Really friendly staff, good service. Food very good. Only reason not 5 stars, only 2 ales on draft 3 unavailable and not large selection on mains menu. Dont be put off though, staff very conscientious. Good atmosphere, plenty of room and good car park.

This was my second visit to this pub, the last back in 2014. It has become even more gastropub since I was last there but it's still very nice inside, even though I don't personally love pubs that welcome dogs. The highlight for me was how nice the staff were - the lady at the front of house was very friendly and brought our daughter a pillow for her high chair; the young blonde waitress helped us with recommendations and the attractive male waiter was very efficient at bringing us our bill. They kindly offered my husband's Grandma a child's portion of fish and chips which was perfect and she and my husband said the dish was delicious. My chicken and ham hock pie was delicious - although I think required more veg accompaniments. And our daughter demolished the macaroni cheese which is quite the compliment as she's not a massive eater.I'm just sad we didn't have space for dessert! My only criticism would be that it's slightly on the spenny side.

I had inadvertently booked the wrong day but the staff were very accommodating and quickly found a table for us. We were all delighted with our choice of main courses, which varied from roast beef to delicious pappadelle. The service was excellent and we enjoyed the vibrant atmosphere. We will return soon and are looking forward to relaxing in the garden once it is warmer, to appreciate the view of Grantchester Meadows.

Nice setting, nice pub, nice food. I fail to understand why it's OK to serve butter straight from the fridge so bits have to be hacked off to spread on sour dough. Call me old fashioned. It might just be me!

Great food and service. Been here for their Christmas menu for the last 6 years.

We went there for lunch when 'en route' to elsewhere. Food was excellent but the portion was a bit too much. Liked the ambience, but the weather was chilly and the place where we sat was drafty. It was busy, so alternative places to sit were few.Reckon the surroundings would be great on a good summer's evening as the outside seating areas were quite something.

The roast was nice but not unforgettable, red wine of the house not special. The sticky toffee pudding was very good. Service could have been better. Very cool place and atmosphere. For the quality of food I’d say a bit pricy.
