Rooftop bar has sadly suffered from lack of skilled staffing. It has always been an expensive treat but chaotic now. The view is still something to enjoy if you are relaxed about getting served, paying bill etc

Over priced and under delivered. The spa was ok but we were led to believe there was a pool and it was spacious. This was not the case, the massage was very good. The room was small and noisy. Had a rubbish night sleep due to noise then woken up to the bin lorries at 7.30 am. The breakfast was continental which is stated but we assumed it was a cooked as the 1 night break with 2 treatments cost several hundred pounds.

Excellent Service above all; easy to book and confirm reservation online. Staff welcoming and friendly. Food was excellent and well cooked with a great selection. The cocktails selection is the standout feature. Would recommend as a place for that special meal or romantic meal. Thanks Six

So far greatly underwhelmed for £180 per night. (Why 5* ? so you read this. It could save you money at the hotel) if I'm wrong Please give me a thumbs down.Firstly the hotels components are all separate entities. So a review for 'Six' shouldn't be mistakenly given as a review for the hotel. We are here for 3 days on a 'no cancellation' booking. The room price has dropped faster than a lead balloon (£159) suggesting it was overpriced to begin with. The ' Varsity Hotel and Spa' is an umbrella name with all its facilities franchised off under the above title whilst giving residents limited access. So it seem that what we've booked is a room and access to a spa facility. The hotel does have the restaurant 'Six'( and an amazing restaurant/ coctal bar it is too (5*)) here but apart from the buffet breakfast, it has to be booked just like any non-resident. This also applies if you want a drink in the hotel. There is 24hr room service if you prefer eating or drinking in your room. There are no refrigerators available in rooms thus a diabetic would not be able to keep insulin cooled. My summary to date:-The hotel room is overpriced. Try calling at the last minute to do a better deal. Alternatively, I suggest one uses a budget hotel and then book 'Six' and the spa separately.Today we try out the spa facilities. More later.CAR PARKING SOLUTION.There is not a car park on site and the hotel charges £25 per night for valet parking, but if you're looking for a cheaper place to park, try the amazing 'Just Park' app. I found a place 200 metres away for 3 days £18 in total.

What a great venue!Lovely view from the top floor, unfortunately not always accessible... Very nice food excelent service, and dead in the heart of Cambridge, right next to the river and the park.Apart from the hotel and the restaurant you can enjoy a lovely spa too

Booked lunch for 3 on a quiet Wednesday in January and we were all delighted with our meal choices to the extent that we refused to share even a taste. Thank you Varsity for upholding my belief that Cambridgeshire restaurants far exceed in quality and imagination anything I can find near my home in West Sussex.

Bought a gift voucher for birthday present. Be very wary if considering buying gift vouchers from Varsity Spa - they will try to charge you upwards of £5.99 (envelope) or £11.99 (box) to deliver a printed version of the voucher, and even if you just want an electronic version there is an unavoidable fee of £2 just to be emailed or texted your voucher!!Greedy money grabbers, maybe they could put my extra £2 to good use and buy themselves a bit of class as this is absolutely not it!

Really enjoyed my stay here, and was a nice touch being upgraded to the Super king room on arrival. B/fast in the morning was amazing and all staff here and in spa was top draw : )Only negatives I would say is that rooms do seem a little dated. The curtains in room seemed cheap and dowdy, and bathroom was very basic and shower not so powerful. I think upgrading some of these things would make a huge difference, but other than that all good : )

No parking available however they do offer valet service at a price but taking into account what car park charges overnight, it is worth it provided you give 30 minutes notice for valet service.Location is excellent with an excellent view of the city from the restaurant. Hotel has a very good spa and gym offer with located next door. For price you pay per night warm breakfast is chargeable, not impressed with continental breakfast.
