The Anchor Inn in Castle Point

We're holding my husband's wake here. The staff could have not been more helpful and made our decisions easier.Update: the wake went very well. The weather was glorious so we made full use of the outside area. Everything was ready for us on our arrival. The 2 members of staff behind the bar worked their socks off so no-one was left waiting very long. As for the food - just wow!! Although I know what I ordered, I didn't expect to see such a vast and varied amount of dishes. The only sad thing was that we had over ordered so there was quite a lot of wastage.Many thanks to all involved in making a sad day more cheery.

We had a family birthday party in the function suite superb. Then we tried a Sunday roast. Fantastic service generous amount of meat tasty spuds. Slightly more then other roast dinner places but certainly worth the money

What a pleasent surprise!! All tables& floors really clean & all tables cleared & cleaned as soon as diners gone. No mess hanging about. Nice touch with flowers on the tables. The pub has only been serving food since April but seems to have nailed the Sunday roast. We had the beef. Very generous portion of meat, good & plenty of roast spuds & fresh veg. No frozen rubbish. Food steaming hot too. I only didn't give 5 stars as I was too stuffed to try a pudding !!! Will be back.....

Went to try the food as was told it was nice and it was. Highly reccomend the fish and chip platter!Staff are super friendly and helpful.Will revisit to try the roast.

Lovely pub with great food. Service was excellent. Will definitely go back when in the area.

Although living local for three years had never visited the Anchor until today - really impressed with the price, quality and quantity of our meals and the helpful and friendly staff who couldn't have been more helpful, welcoming and obliging - will certainly be going back.

A pint of Landlord, flipping gorgeous! Quite a busy place, seem to be focused on the food, lots of people ordering meals the smell was making me hungry!

Really enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Great variety of vegan dishes for a member of our group. Friendly staff.

Came in not expecting much on short notice but the food was excellent, far better than your average pub grub and staff were very friendly and helpful. Recommend trying for food!

Went last night to celebrate my dad who passed away last year. Didn't really know what to expect but was absolutely blown away. The food was amazing and beautifully presented. Good sized portions and fairly priced too. The staff were very helpful and attentive. Would definitely recommend a visit and will be going again as soon as I can. *****
