Chequers in Central Bedfordshire

Lovely place with great food. Many gluten free options for those who need them. Excellent friendly service too. Our server even sang happy birthday to me!!

My partner and I went to a wine tasting event.It was Brill!My partner had been before, to the French wines.We did the Spanish Region this time and although I'm not a wine drinker I loved it.We had 3 white, 3 red, and served a platter of cheeses, cured meats, olives etc.Which was great to try different things with different wines.Philip was great. Explained all about each wine and where it comes from. With a lot of humour thrown in.Afterwards we all stayed and Philip walked round chatting to everyone and we got to order bottles or cases of the wines we tried.All in all it was great and I will definitely be going to the new world Australian wine tasting!!See you there. Delicious food, generous portions & friendly staff. A covid-aware establishment in comfortable surroundings. Our group all had roast meals (beef, pork & turkey), with piles of veg, lots of it sourced very locally. Beers too. We will definitely visit again.

Had not been to The Chequers since pre covid & even though restrictions are relaxed,the pub felt very covid secure with waiting staff wearing masks or visors. Cutlery all in individual bags,hand sanitiser dotted around at intervals & good spacing between diners which I like regardless,dont always want to have to listen to people's conversations.The menu was varied so should cover most people's taste even a vegan menu which was very good as at most places you're lucky to be offered one vegan dish. Portions we're generous & food was piping hot. The staff were attentive & friendly.There's a good size outdoor area ,equally as comfortable as inside. There is a carpark but it's not huge & could be a little tight if you have a large vehicle.All in all a very pleasant evening.

I had a good meal at The Chequers on Saturday night - good food, good service. I will return again.

Really nice Christmas Eve lunch, nice staff, menu nice, all food available. Very covid safe, gel everywhere. Nice outside covered space. Would go back.

Lovely meal at The Chequers. All food preferences well catered for. We had Sunday lunches, fish pies, rabbit tagliatelle and a kids pizza among our party. Every one enjoyed their meals and would be enthusiastic to return. The pub has tight covid controls in place, which pleased many of the senior members of our group. When booking I had mentioned it was a birthday celebration and when we arrived there was a card on our table, a very sweet touch. Thank you, The Chequers team!

Very nice dining experience. Seating was comfortably socially distanced, food was really nice. It's a charming building too. Could do with more vegetarian options on the main menu - there is a vegan menu but as we're not vegan we didn't go for it.

We went for drinks and the service was good. It was very quiet so we were the only ones in. Drinks were reasonably prices. The music was great in the background. We will go again.

Really nice place, I can highly recommend the Pan fried Sea Bream it was very nice. My mum said the cheese and Bacon burger was really nice too and it was awesome that they catered for Gluten free alternatives for alot of the menu she has never managed to have a Burger at a restaurant before. The staff were very friendly.
