After more than two years absence due to the pandemic situation, I decided to visit the Market Cross with my family for lunch yesterday, 22.04.22 at 12.00.First impressions very good and staff greeting friendly. Old style of ordering at the bar quite efficient and felt like no time had passed. The carvery was well laid out and stocked with the usual goodies including three meat selections. Quality was regrettably not to the usual restaurant standard as the roast potatoes, whilst looking good, were very difficult to cut and the Yorkshire pudding was like leather. (Suspected that these items were reheated from the previous day!!). Noted that several other carvery customers were leaving the roasties and Yorkshire puds un-eaten.The dessert was very enjoyable and the actual lunch was reasonably priced. We will try again at a different time in the hope that this was a one off experience before severing future use as the general ambience of Market Cross is pleasant with many fond memories.

I have to clarify that the food is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. The staff are incredible like always! The carvery is brilliant. The manager always notifies us if there is a problem. For me ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

My friend and I had a really lovely time. We chose to have the carvery. The meat was superbly cooked and there was a good choice of vegetables. The cauliflower was a bit disappointing as the stalks were very hard not good for our old pensioners teeth. Overall though an excellent experience made even better with a 30% off voucher.

Good value for money. Lady in customer service was ready to go the extra mile The gentleman with the beard that took my order was great, explaining the customer journey very clearly for first-time customers. That was key I will visit; again, chef was old school and understood her humour 😀

The venue was clean and warm well set out with a pleasant level of background music, not too crowded . Bar staff had to be found from behind the bar but served me in an efficient manner. The ordering and payment of food and drink was simple and effective. Drinks were served and I took them to our table that was clean and had menus and condiments in place . The pint of Pedigree (the main reason I had chosen this venue) was not of drinkable standard, it was clear but tasted off. I returned my drink to the bar and the barman happily changed it and delivered it to me at my table, unfortunately the second one was no better, this was returned to the bar and the barman said they were having trouble with their REAL ALE and offered an alliterative . .I chose a larger and was satisfied with the replacement if disappointed that your USP had Lett you down . The food when I asked for fish and chips was not available so I opted for Steak and ale pie. The filling of the pie was very good and hot but the pastry was soggy , my wife's Rump steak melt was very good . The bottom line of our visit was that we were disappointed by our visit but with mixed feelings as to if we may return or not.

We didn't have a great experience when we went for an early dinner on a Tuesday evening...1. The draft ale was cloudy... fortunately the staff were able to offer a bottled alternative.2. There were no vegetarian meal choices available at all. This was really frustrating. We'd seen the vegan menu online... Unfortunately it wasn't available. This was a problem...we had a vegetarian in our party.3. The steak and ale pie was served with a cold middle... It was replaced once identified...but obviously a delay for that diner. We don't plan to revisit.

Recommend the carvery. Posh roast on a plate, decent beers too. Family atmosphere. I was last here before the pandemic and have rose tinted memories of past family meals. Just hope future great memories will be created soon.

Clean and quiet for a Saturday which was a lovely surprise. My meal was absolutely lovely. Piping hot, huge piece of chicken, lovely chips and a really fresh baby leaf salad. I usually leave any restaurant still feeling hungry but not today. Very decent slab of cheesecake too, instead of the usual poultry portions you get everywhere else. Staff were very polite and helpful. My friend loved his mixed grill too, no fat, cooked to perfection, great size dinner also. Will be back very soon.

Always guarantee a tasty good value carvery roast!😋 As you can imagine it's very busy on a Sunday so you may have a short wait for food but worth it! Fresh roast Gammon hidden by the Yorkshire pud!
