Moggerhanger Park in Central Bedfordshire

What an amazing find! In some ways we didn't want to share it as it is a rare gem in the tough world of hospitality. Sam, Susie and family have recently taken over this beautiful grade 1 listed hotel, set in a charming country park, high on a plateau in central Bedfordshire.While only bed and breakfast is currently available until a chef is appointed for evening meals, we had great time with our friend and our 2 elderly labradors. They were made as warmly welcomed as we were and even though we were staying in the dog friendly rooms, the bathrooms were some of the cleanest I have seen in a hotel.We would highly recommend Moggerhanger for a weekend break or even longer. We walked along local trails as well as having afternoon tea twice (because the scones are so good!) in their tearoom. The grounds are lovely (the bluebells were spectacular) and the courtyard where we stayed had been planted up with dozens of tulips which gave the impression of an Italianate villa.Corporate it is not! The beauty, honesty and authenticity of Moggerhanger has ensured that we will definitely be back.

Lovely place to go especially with younger children, a lovely walk around the grounds (we went at snowdrop and then again at bluebell time, beautiful). A little playground for kids and a café which is great, lovely homemade cakes, yummy. They have lots of board games and colouring in the cafe too.

Moggerhanger Park is an incredibly beautiful, peaceful and elegant setting. The rooms are clean, spacious and well equipped. Sam and his team could not have been more welcoming and helpful. I could not recommend this place more. 6 Stars!

This is such an interesting place to stay compared to hotel chains. It is a rare Georgian house still undergoing restoration which has so far cost £7 million. Unchanged during the Victorian era, many original features including folding wooden shutters, flagstone and wooden floors and sash windows help guests feel as if they've stepped back in time.The house is used as a Christian conference centre, while also accepting paying guests, so it is not a hotel as such. There's a homely atmosphere, the rooms are large and being set in extensive grounds, there's no traffic noise at all.I recommend a visit to the teashop in the grounds where we had a really delicious and very fresh cake and a cup of tea.

We booked a room with our Dog, wanting somewhere more rural & quiet & space for a walk.The room was perfect, clean & quiet, bed was huge & so comfortable,a grand room with en-Suite.The house is very beautiful, staff lovely.We sat in the bar in the evening, lovely to chatwith Sam. The grounds are perfect with greens & woods for walk, tea rooms & play area for children.We will definitely go again.

Spent 2 nights at the Park. Fascinating historical place. Great welcome from the owners, full of information about the building. Worth a visit just for that. Grounds are beautiful and peaceful. Want to continue going over the years to enjoy it's continued progress - like a work of art evovlng whole you are relaxing !!!

We had a great stay here. The house is an elegant and inspiring building being lovingly brought back to life by a passionate and knowledgeable team. The atmosphere is at once grand and intimate, formal and relaxed. We were made to feel so welcome that we immediately felt at home. If you are seeking tranquility and some respite from the stresses of modern life, I would highly recommend a stay in this unique and special place.

We had a lovely stay at Moggerhanger Park. If you want to imagine you live in a stately home then this is the place! We enjoyed our coffee in the library, had a play on the grand piano and walked in the picturesque gardens. Our room was clean, bright and had an enormous and comfortable bed. Staff were lovely and overall we had an excellent experience. Would definitely recommend. Thank you so much Sam and Susan for being wonderful hosts! We will return.

Went for the valentines day afternoon tea which we both really enjoyed. The food was incredible and beautifully presented. We then went for a stroll around the woods and visited the small museum on site. Perfect little treat!

We stayed for 2 nights at this beautiful house and gardens with a lovely café (the cakes were great!) and woodland walks. So it is a great place to go for relaxation and to get away from all the stresses of everyday life.Sam and Susan are very enthusiastic, friendly and welcoming and I feel they are great custodians of such an amazing house. The Soane designed staircase is stunning in its simplicity.I normally don’t like to return to places that I have already visited but I will make an exception with Moggerhanger Park.
