After a long journey they were so welcoming without being intrusive. Our room was small but perfect, all we needed. So quiet & do clean. Excellent dinner & dreshly cooked, locally sourced breakfast. We love this place & will recommend & return.

Lunchtime 80th birthday celebration for 13 people. Good food, arrived all together. Allowed our own birthday cake. Happy with service. Thank you.

Nice garden on a lovely sunny day. Staff very prompt at clearing tables outside. No longer doing table service or tabs outside but you can order at the bar and I saw food being brought out to tables. Haven't eaten there since lockdown / the refurbishment but have seen on the website they only serve food until 7pm, which might catch a lot of people out. Had a look at the menu for future reference. Less extensive than under previous ownership but all the staples you might expect. Burgers, Steaks, Sausage & Mash, Gammon, etc. Worth a visit on the way back from the Zoo but you'll have to be quick to get orders in before 7!

Louise and John are excellent hosts, efficient, professional and very welcoming. Their staff are also very friendly.I had been let down by another local restaurant and at short notice Louise and John were very accommodating, they both made every effort to ensure that myself and guests had a lovely evening celebrating. The function room has been updated and it is clean bright and although more modern than previous visits it is much more comfortable whilst still retaining the charm of this beautiful buildingThe food was amazing and enjoyed by all 26 of our party (I'm sure you will have return visits from the all of the guests).Thank you for helping to make my day a special one.

Amazing food, great portions, good variety and specials are fantastic. Wait staff are great help and quick to check on things. All in all, great end to a long day!

Popped in here for an unscheduled lunch as the place we had booked had a power cut. They had space for 3 people at 2pm on a Sunday which was good, as they looked reasonably busy. Food was tasty and sensible portion sizes for lunch. My scampi and chips was will cooked with crispy chips and hit the spot. Service was prompt and efficient. Would visit again.

Couldn't express how much this place is amazing. Service was 100% and the food was as always amazing. Great portion sizes too. Great staff, very attentive and ticked all our needs.

Beautiful on the outside but so disappointing once you go through the door. Historic on the outside, IKEA on the inside. Tables had grubby A4 laminated menus and service station condiments. 6 members of staff but only 2 were working the other were leaning on or behind the bar chatting. Staff very young with no welcoming personalities or charisma. Manager did not stand out and looked like another customer in jumper and trainers.Had to ask what the roasts were and the specials.Roast was quite nice and plentiful. Desserts however were not nice and mainly left.Again inexperienced staff did not check back on food or ask why desserts were left to enhance customer experience.Overall sadly would not come back or recommend.

Had a great meal here on New Year's Day. The place was busy but the service was excellent and food really good. Well worth a visit after a trek across the downs. Looking forward to returning.
