Good service, good beer, nice old pub in a nice location next to the bridge. Food was okay, filled a hole, only ate their once and had the burger. Will try something else next time and update the review after

Lovely location. Police and friendly staff, nice food. But to my way of thinking it's missing the wow factor. Sorry guys.

We went on a Monday night, the pub was quiet but welcoming. The food was freshly cooked and very tasty. I can highly recommend the Irish Cream Creme Brulee 😋😋😋

Lovely village pub. Warm welcome and friendly professional staff. Good menu catering for different appitites. Equally good selection if you just want a drink.

I had pre booked a table for 17 people and pre ordered our food, with such a big group I expected there to be some mistakes but there was no such thing! Everything came out as it should and we were given a lovely big table with pretty much our own space! I was very happy with our experience and the staff were very good and friendly! Our meals came out quickly. The only thing I would say is that some of the portion sizes were smaller than I expected but they did taste great! Would eat here again :)

The bar staff and waitresses were brilliant and did a good job. Unfortunately can't say same for the food,very disappointed. My cheeseburger was a burger with a thin layer of cheese in a very dry oversized bun, nothing else. PoorMy wife had a Hunters Chicken also poor.Need a better chef.

I enjoy eating out but can honestly say I'm not really a foodie and certainly I am no gourmet so I rarely wax lyrical about a meal so pay attention. This place is awesome. The menu was exactly to my liking with choice but not so much choice you know it can't all be freshly cooked. There was a standard menu with a good range of choices but also some very tempting specials.I had the breaded whitebait which was done to perfection, perfectly crispy on the outside without being dry on the inside. I then had a perfectly seasoned tuna steak smothered in prawns with new potatoes and veg served with fresh tartare sauce. I finished up with a delightfully light treacle sponge and custard that combined a light crunch with a nice hint of caramel in the sauce that lifted it above the normal offerings I have eaten before.I so rarely get emotional about food but this place really did itself proud and to cap it all the beer and the service were both excellent. I cannot recommend it highly enough. 11/10

Great pub (that does takeaway drinks too) and a location by the river I've been going to since I was a kid. Beautiful.

This is a lovely little pub in the village and looks very quaint from the outside, so we were encouraged to visit for lunch one Sunday. Unfortunately we were all left rather underwhelmed and probably won’t be rushing back.Despite having reserved a table the staff seemed a little surprised to see us arrive but fortunately the table was available, immediately adjacent to the main entrance. It was a shame though that we had to clear it ourselves of the dirty tissues and empty glass which had been left there.The decor was very traditional with exposed brick, wooden placemats and a historic pub vibe. However the whole place is certainly more geared to dining than just popping in for a drink. We started with drinks while looking through the menu which had a good choice, plus there was a specials blackboard with around five extra items. The range of drinks offered, particularly on draught, was a lot more limited.Service from the waiting staff was a bit dull and they didn’t seem too excited to be working there! We ordered additional drinks but the empty glasses weren’t taken away and we ended up taking them back to the bar ourselves once the table ended up getting rather cluttered.We ordered two sharers as starters between the group - the seafood platter and Anchor Hot. Both were a good size and decent for a couple of people. The amount of seafood was actually quite impressive but the prawns were more like large shrimp and quite a few were actually full of roe. While some will love that for many it would be seriously off-putting.I opted for one of the specials - Kangaroo steak. This was served with mushrooms and a cheese gravy along with some potatoes. It wasn’t the largest of portions and the meat was a little tough. There hadn’t been an option of how I’d wanted it cooked.The cheesecake desert on the other hand was superb and I’d highly recommend it!Overall it felt very pricey for what it was and the service hadn’t made up for it. It feels nice and independent, with a family run atmosphere, but unfortunately it’s beaten by other pubs not too far away.

Great location, we arrived from Bedford via a canoe on the river. The staff were friendly and the food decent. They have a nice outdoor area with a view of the river which is lovely in good weather.
