I used to visit the Old Red Lion regularly but haven't been in for a couple of years.First impressions are that it looks tired and really needs renovating if it's to remain open. The barperson determined the Doom Bar ale was off but only after I had told her that having no head, looking and tasting like dish water were clear indicators. She had to go down to the cellar to verify today was its Best Before.I asked for a pint of Guinness instead but observing the same barperson tilted the glass I asked if she knew how to pour Guinness. She told me she was told all beers are poured the same with the glass tilted and swirling the beer as it fills up the glass. We had the carvery. Good portions but it was all cold. The bar staff need urgent training in how to keep a bar and pour beer. It's going to be another couple of years before I try the Old Red Lion again, and wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Great place to eat. Very good value for money

·

Food is great, the pub itself is dirty and a mess, food everywhere and tables dirty

Had to make a stop while delivering a car for a customer, had a quick search and found this crown carvery. Decided to spend some rest time here and I'm glad I did. While the Pepsi was unavailable J2O drinks were good, the carvery was great (wonderful tender meat) and pleasant and friendly staff happy to help.Should I be in the area in the future either business or pleasure I would be happy to return.

Came today was not impressed they had not turkey left and this was at 6.30 o'clock and they are meant to be cooking untill 9. The mash tasted burnt and the dinner was cold. There were fly's around are good and the and the staff apart from one person was just standing around talking. The chef that was serving the carvery was swearing which I thought was unacceptable as I had a three year old child with me disgusting behaviour.

Food was lovely but had to wait for more meat to be cooked. Downside of it was the damn flies that were even getting on the food. Also it needs a good clean and update. Was going to have dessert but flies sent me away.

Disgusting!! Do not eat here. came for Sunday lunch worst decision every the stars should be zero appealing establishment. The place is absolutely filthy. 9.95 for a carvery that has flies swarming it. Dirty plates sticky tables the carpet looked like it hadn't seen a Hoover in months!! The bathroom was horrendous the filth was just unimaginable should be shut down!!

First time here, happened to make a quick pit stop. Only ordered 1 pint and I work in a pub myself that's a value for money type place, so I was impressed with the pint only being £2.75 which is only 25p more than what we sell it for. I have a strong knowledge of beers and let's say I've drank aplenty in my time and I have to say it might be the best pint of carlsberg I've ever tasted! Very clean and had a smooth texture to it that went down a treat.I'm giving a 4 star for now as I'd like to return again and try out the food as I had a peek at the carvery and for the fair prices going it smelled and looked very nice so I will be going back to try it out :)

I haven't actually been here for a couple of years so this is a backdated review. Anyway, I just wanted to say that this place was brilliant then for one reason only - price. The food (carvery) was stupidly cheap - definitely of the pile-it-high variety but would still have represented good value at twice the price. There is plenty of space, inside and out, so also good for feeding large groups at rock bottom prices. If you're after gourmet food give it a miss but if you're nearby and need to fill your belly, or running low on funds the I highly recommend it.
