Went in for a quick drink. Was very strange and extremely unwelcoming. Stood at empty bar for a fair time while some staff sat down chatting with friends in bar or were stood around the corner. Coffees were very bad and the beer (Meantime) tasted sour.Clearly this place could do better, but none of its potential or quality was reflected in our visit.

A lovely building but that's about all. The food is massively overpriced for what it is and the poor quality offered. Starters were basic, but they still managed to be badly prepared. Meat was overcooked and barely edible, chips were unusually greasy, and pizza was average at best. When pointing all these points out to the waitress we weren't offered any apology, just a slightly rude comment, and all this for an eye watering price. This place used to be ok, and If you're going for a drink it's fine. If you want to go for food however, I'd look at other pubs in Ampthill that still do the basics well

Great small hotel/pub. Food is outstanding quality, served with smiles in a busy modern pub, ÂŁÂŁ worth the money. Rooms are quirky, comfortable and shows some original wood beams, they are above the very old pub so floor and steps uneven, no lift to first floor, well insulated and cozy, no noise from the pub but yes from the main road. A little gem....

Went here for family brunch. The food was really lovely, and reasonably priced. Friendly staff, lovely decor and atmosphere. Would definitely recommend, and not hesitate to go again if in the area.

Sunday roast was 5 out of 10. For £18+ I would be expecting 8+ out of 10 at least. Looked like 3 chefs at full tilt trying to do a brunch menu / regular menu / specials menu and then roasts as well. Ordered the roast chicken with honey mustard chipolatas sausages. Chicken was cooked well but the chipolatas were in fact 2 tiny cocktail sausages and couldn’t taste any honey mustard. Roast potatoes were well below par. They should just do a smaller menu a lot better. Cauli cheese could do with some Panko breadcrumbs on top to crisp it up. Sadly won’t rush back for the roast. Service staff were lovely. Nice atmosphere too.

I have to assume that if you get a table in the actual restaurant, the whole Whit Hart experience would be much better. As it was, despite having a formal booking - I was not a walk-in - I was shunted to a makeshift table in the main pub where it was extremely noisy and cramped. On top of that the service was very slow - probably those seated in the cheap seats get a second class service compared to the fortunate in the restaurant. I mean why does it take 25 minutes to get 2 scoops of ice cream? After all this I should mention the food - the confit duck was excellent. So, either the White Hart should stop using tables in the pub area, or if you go, make sure you get a table in the actual restaurant!

Went last night for a close friends wedding in the stables, it was absolutely stunning. Food was delicious, with options for all (v) (vg) really enjoyed the food, atmosphere, and the staff was amazing. Only down side is the parking is sparse or expensive.

The white hart is a fantastic, great value pub which is made even better by one member of staff in particular, Jo. My family came in for bottomless brunch and Jo could not have been more lovely, helpful or warm. She is an outstanding employee and I hope she gets the recognition she deserves - thanks so much for making our visit memorable!

Second time in the last couple of weeks have been for breakfast and completely understaffed despite the teams best endeavours. Took 45 mins to get a coffee. Breakfast took over an hour. Quality of food not good enough at the price charged.

So much potential ruined by not enough staff. What would be great food comes out cold. Fancy extra drinks? Chances are no one will ask. The last two times I've been I've waited 30 minutes for the bill until I gave up and had to pay at the bar.Better options elsewhere nowadays.
