Cake at the Lake in Chelmsford

Lovely little cafe in Central Park with a few tables inside and plenty of outside space. Toilet is handy (with baby changing facilities too), and there's a decent menu of sandwiches, toasties, jacket potatoes, cakes, hot and cold drinks and more.There's a kids' picnic box offer (sandwich, drink, crisps, yoghurt and biscuits) which is decent value, and they love dogs too: plenty of dog treats (cupcakes, sausages etc) as well as poo bags and tennis balls.My tuna melt toastie was well packed with fillings and had a choice of granary or white bread, and was served with a generous salad and some tortilla chips.I've knocked off a star purely because the toilet could do with a bit of TLC in terms of both updating and cleaning.

My favorite cafe in Chelmsford, hands down. On the rare occasion I'm passing through the park and don't plan to stop on the cafe to say hello and grab a coffee, my dog just about drags me in anyway because she's just as in love with it too! It has a really sweet, warm feel to it-- it encapsulates THE "neighborhood spot" feel, where you know you're going to walk in to a friendly greeting and staff who remember your order and are always delighted for furry friends to come in too. Great food and drinks, and set in a beautiful park that is so well maintained. The amount of people who love, follow, and engage with the cafe's social media speaks for itself too-- they've done an amazing job of creating a space that is welcoming to all. So thankful for Central Park cafe and the service and experience they provide their community.

Our favourite 😍 place in Chelmsford. Fabulous staff, delicious food with a huge range of choice. We love having our morning coffee and breakfast here and they are dog friendly too. Would highly recommend.

Brilliant hidden gem. Extensive menu for eat in or take away, great staff who make you feel welcome and valued and, so great for a park venue, totally dog friendly with special treats for your hound. Food always excellent. You may also get a visiting Cygnet drop by 😁

Lovely cafe, great food (sarnies, toasties, cakes, cookies, sausage rolls and dog friendly snacks and bits and bobs). Delicious coffee and a beautiful setting in the park. Highly recommend a stop here

Visiting this cafe is a treat for myself and friends and also our dogs!. Always greeted with a very warm welcome. Nothing is too much trouble. Fab coffees and cakes. Where else would the lovely staff chop up a cooked sausage into a paper cup for your dog to enjoy 😉 .. and they sell home-made dog treats and dog birthday cakes. 5 star fab. A great little spot in the middle of Central Park. We live locally and often pop by for coffee and sit outside to enjoy it (particularly in the summer) or we just get cake to take away. It's very dog friendly and can it times be very busy with lots of dogs so may be a bit overwhelming if you do not like dogs. We haven't eaten a 'meal' there yet so I cannot comment but the breakfast menu looks good!

This place is a gem set away from the more crowded city centre cafés. Very friendly and professional staff with perfect service, always a smile. Great coffee and pastries/cake. Beautiful setting.

Amazing cafe. Best coffee in chelmsford and the girls are just amazing. Can have a coffee over looking the lake. Dog friendly so dogs can go inside on days when it's raining. My pooch loved it there. Also amazing food. A million percent worth a visit
