Fontanella Coffee House in Chelmsford

Terrible espresso. Tasted like filter coffee - no strength, no aroma, bland taste. I’ve had better coffee at builders cafs up and down London. Prices of sandwiches were quite high, but then again it is a hospital. I guess they get away with sub-standard coffee and overpriced food/drink thanks to being placed in a hospital where there is no competition.I can’t really comment on poor customer service but they seemed ok. A bit busy, yes, and I didn’t get a welcoming smile. How long does it take to smile?Final thoughts? One should not raise one’s expectations too high in this place.Shall I visit again? I hope not. Better bring my Thermos.

Great stuff, lovely customer service friday at 4pm girl with tattoos such a sweatheart and very nice , also the boy with arm tattoo has an accent but was very friendly and helped me pick a drink ,best staff ive ever seen in the hospital coffee shop the rest are awfull ..

Awful staff swearing at each other and messing about . All this in front of customers and manager

Poor service, opening hours advertised as closing @ 17:00. Stop serving food at 16:00 and everybody must be out by 16:15. Rude Italian lady behind the till. Shocking service and the hospital should investigate. Disgrace!

Absolutely disgusted at the attitude of the lady staff member on Saturday afternoon. No name badge but sounded Spanish. Coffee house supposed to close at 5.00 pm. We were in at 4.10 pm and she was already putting the shutters down on the food racks and muttering under her breath because people still wanted serving. Outside shutters were then closed so nobody else could get in even though people still pushed them aside and entered to which she huffed. It became extremely stuffy in there and many people were complaining about it including myself and I stated that I would be making a complaint to which she said "you can if you want". So rude and clearly not right to work in a customer service position!

Came in at Only 3 pm on a Sunday and one memberof staff only so wait is over 30 minutes, one battered sandwich in the fridge and a half broken cake and nothing else, they don't have plates or cups everything is served to go. I came in looking for something to eat and went away hungry as their was literally nothing to eat. The whole area was dirty. Absolutely disgusting, this is the only place in the hospital open to eat at and they had nothing. Not very nice for patients or staff.

Rude staff commenting about customers in front of other customers. Place half closed with chairs on table hours before closing time. Takeaway cups available only. Iced latte was rubbish he didn't even bother stirring it. Server also ranted outside about no staff! Avoid at all costs.

Hate to write this review as I've always been happy in the past. Ordered 2 flat white coffees, one of which should be decaff and whilst I waited for the young girl to serve others, I noticed she had a coffee with no cream on the side, she went on to say that the one she was doing was the normal one, before picking up the coffee on the side, adding milk saying that's decaff.We tried both of them and they were both completely different, with the so called decaff being bloody awful! returned it to the girl saying discretely but audibly that it was awful and she simply glared at me and went on to serve somebody else. No apology, no offer of a replacement, nothing! I certainly wouldn't waste another penny here. She needs a lesson in concentration and customer satisfaction!

Girl with green hair is extremely bad mannered and rude. Waited 20 mins for a sandwich that never came and when queried, she argued I ordered something else as their system isn't wrong! All but called a liar. The young kid putting away the glasses had his hands inside the cups as well. Unbelievable.

Most awful service ever. Waited 20 mins just for a Mocca coffee. Manager short and rude. Would not use china cups for beverages inside cafe. No sleeves for paper cups. £3.10 for a really shoddy coffee. No stars deserved at all but could not post this review until I gave it one star.
