Lovely pub and Dec's are superb. Nice beer garden and food was lovely, except for the vegetables on the roast. All was too hard , couldn't even cut the parsnip, potatoes could have been cooked for longer, they were pale and soft

Walked here for a late lunch, we arrived 15:30 and tucked into excellent fish and chips. It was very quiet ( I think we were the only customers at first) so were served quickly and food was piping hot. Washed down with a nice bottle of red.Sorry, no pics.

Arrived at restaurant to find they had no trace of our booking for our anniversary and sons birthday, despite me having an email of proof which was booked on line, waitress I can't fault and I believe her name is Zoe.Restaurant was not very busy but food was slow to come out, roast dinner was barely warm, beef was tough and the stuffing is clearly frozen heated block was disgusting. On ordering desserts everything we ordered was not available , Sundae, Waffle and Ice Cream and the other escapes me..I feel this was not out of stock it was more the staff couldn't be bothered to make the more timely consuming dishes.First time here and very disappointed.

Went here for a nice relaxing meal yesterday. When we got politely greeted and sat to a table. The lovely Hannah served us. She is really cheerful and has good knowledge of the food and drink. After a few drinks we wanted shots and she recommended tequila rose. The cocktails there are amazing! My favourite cocktail is Gordon’s pink spritz. We had an amazing time there. Thank you Hannah and the team!! 😁

Good English pub food. Nicely decorated clean pub with large outdoor seating area. On the couple of times I’ve visited over the last year, which luckily avoided peak times, the experiences have been fine, with only one occasion where the food took longer than expected. However be aware that, based on comments from others during the visits, the food service can be slow with very long delays at peak times. It seems the kitchen tends to be understaffed, whilst on at least one occasion there were plenty of bar staff. Maybe it was just unfortunate circumstances on the days I visited. Recommend avoiding peak times to be on the safe side. Otherwise food was great, and we were able to get food around 9pm on a Wednesday night when other places had already closed their kitchen. Outdoor seating overlooks some lovely Essex countryside. (Pictured: British chicken and ham hock pie with chips)

I am usually served by Josh and he is amazing. He notices that I have a dog so rushes over with a bowl of water, and always has a chat. The team are friendly, the food as you would expect from a major pub chain, and the price reasonable. The team make everyone feel very welcome and it is always a pleasure going there.

Fantastic! Date night with the wife. Chose here as we visited during lockdown and although it was nice the doors had to be open so was really cold! This time however, completely different. The food was amazing (despite there being quite a few items not available on the menu), and our waitress Megan was one of the best we have encountered. Really friendly, professional and attentive. Even stopped to chat for a while.Highly recommend for the food and hope Megan can be your waitress every time you visit.

Came here for a family meal and we left impressed! The food and the service were top class. Nancy was our waitress and she was very friendly and easy to talk to.. we asked for some recommendations and she said the special Halibut and it was wonderful! Thank you so much for making our time so good and I can’t wait to come back

My wife and I had a meal there last night ( 19/12/21) and were served by Ella-may. Fortunately I had phoned a couple of days earlier to inform her of my wife's dietary requirements and we received superb meals for both of us. It is extremely rare to get that on a first visit to any new restaurant and we thank everyone concerned. Tony

Big pub with big car park but still cosy and with a traditional pub atmosphere inside. Give this roadside pub a try, I doubt if you'll be disappointed, especially by the excellent food and friendly service.Myself and three friends dined here after a long and muddy walk and we were all very impressed! Thanks very much!
