Old Stable Tearoom in Chelmsford

Pleasant place with lots of room. The food / drink ordering system is still very slow with the new franchise. Serving staff are friendly enough but no authority/ discretion to resolve customer issues ( missing ingredients on orders etc) with the "Management" whoever they might be, the ones to address but they were sadly missing.

Great experience here even with so little staff they made sure to cater to everyone's personal needs, making sure orders were all on time. The atmosphere is lovely and friendly like a slice of home in a lovely park. Food was excellent. Especially their soup, would definitely recommend. Cakes are beautifully presented as well as tasty! I would recommend to anyone looking for a lovely homey feel cafe to come here again and again!!

I’ve been coming to the park for years - the cafe has undergone a huge change! Lots of great sweet treats and vegan alternatives for those picky family members, friendly staff and a revamped menu has meant a new lease on life for Hylands. Worth the trip!

A lovely little cafe, looking fab since the refit. The staff are always super friendly and polite and the coffee and cake is delicious- not their fault that they’re understaffed!

Nice selection of drinks, sandwiches, cakes, snacks, ice creams and the staff seemed friendly. All great except the wait times - we were standing in the queue over 30 mins, by the end of it we were thoroughly baffled (try looking after 3 kids whilst queueing for that long) - how could it really take that long, probably needs a rethink of their serving process; increase their efficiency & leadership

A nice choice of areas inside or outside the cafe or in the courtyard there's even a place that is dog friendly. Not a vast choice but the more than adequate to go with a cup of tea, the pasties in the sausage rolls or very hot and freshly out , the cakes looked very nice.Would have given it 5 stars but due to staff shortages had to have a cup and that's not quite right for a nice cup of tea

Almost £6 for two small paper cups of hot chocolate filled 2/3 up, all served from a kiosk by a miserable woman. Bargain.

Lovely little stop after walking around Hylands park. Great vegan chocolate cake and the brownies were good too! Great seating inside and outside! Staff are always friendly and always enjoy going here!

We are frequent visitors to the Stables cafe. We always sit outside as we have a dog. It is always busy and popular. Nice atmosphere but takes a while to get served. Normally just one very nice but rather stressed lady at the outside serving hatch who does her best. Still a great place to take break on our Sunday dog walk route though.
