The Angel in Chelmsford

Main courses did not arrive after an hour and a half after ordering so we left. Waiting staff were unapologetic and simply stated they were busy but were very focussed on further drinks orders rather than the non appearance of our food.Completely understaffed and sadly appeared not to care about customer service.Would not recommend as a place to eat

It's an ok pub, the food is very standard as it's a chain. The young staff are very nice and friendly, although we sat for a good 20 minutes before being offered to order a drink when other tables arrived after us and got served within 5 minutes so their service was alot better than ours. I would return for a drink - they have a very good list including different non alcoholic options and you can order from the bar just for a drink.

Icy cold welcome from staff.Took an age to acknowledge that we were waiting in the 'wait to be seated' area to the point where we just made our own way to the bar despite bar staff walking by reguarly.Then staff served a customer who was actually behind us...Waitress then took us to our table, minimal interaction.Food was very average and just the entire experince wasnt great...Which is disappointing as this used to be a regular lunch destination for us prior to COVID.Hopefully the place picks up again

What a really lovely place for something to eat and drink. The staff were so friendly. The place was spotlessly clean and the food was great.

We have arrived at 16:00 under reservation. Had to wait at the door for 10 mins to be seated.16:22 - ordered drinks and food.16:48 - drinks arrived.Now its 17:24. No sight of food.Will i come again? Big No!Very upsetting.Service was Disgraceful to this lovely place!Cant comment on food as it is not arrived over an hour.

Had lunch with a friend there today. The food was lovely, the service excellent and I couldn't fault it. Beautiful old building as well. I'd thoroughly recommend it.

Great food and lovely service. The Angel has a great (fairly priced) menu. Nice indoor seating area with open fire. Good carparking

Found booking easy and the staff very friendly with a nice atmosphere.Food was extremely disappointing, cold bland and tough lamb chops, veg was cremated and dry.Wife had a flat breaded chicken escalope passed off as hunters chicken.Chips were however perfect.Waitress refunded our mains and we went to McDonald's 😂

We moved to Chelmsford a year ago and although I’ve been in for a cheeky pint we’ve never been in for a full sit down meal.With my mum visiting from the north we decided to pop in for a roast before taking baby Foodmunkey to the pirate ship playground around the back.From the outset we were greeted warmly having the door held open for us to bring the pram in, seated and provided our menus.The service though was fantastic throughout, even allowing us to order our sons food later on when he woke up.The trio roast was amazing. I just wish I’d have ordered more pigs in blankets as my wife stole my only one haha!For the most part the starters were lovely, I’d just have liked the sauce on the prawn cocktail to have a little extra kick, but that’s just my preference.We will definitely be back though for another roast and just for a general sit down meal!Or even just a cheeky pint…. Again 😜

Visited twice in last two weeks. Staff very friendly and efficient. Booked on line met at the door and shown to our table. Food on both occasions was very nice. Only downside, the roast belly Pork portions were more akin to a child portion and sprouts very overcooked.
