The Bakehouse, chelmsford in Chelmsford

We came today to arrive to organised chaos. There was so clear sign for seating as to whether we had to wait or just find a table. There were empty tables but they still had dirty plates on them. We orders food and this arrived quickly and hot. Food was okay but nothing overly special. The beef burger was very salty, the rest of food we ordered was OK. The cake counter is lovely and we got some treats to take home these were yummy.It is on the more expensive end for a cafe.

We’ve been coming to the Bakehouse for a few years now and always enjoy the lovely cakes, treats and drinks. When it came to our wedding and looking for a wedding cake we knew we had to ask Bakehouse if they could help us out (as this wasn’t something that was advertised) and without hesitation the lovely Sam met with us to discuss our ideas. The Bakehouse team are always so lovely and the cake Sam made for us in her own time was amazing. We had a delicious 4 tier cake (made up of Victoria sponge, chocolate and red velvet) which all guests loved too. 100% would recommend - for a wedding cake or a nice treat in the gardens when the sun is out. Went for brunch here with my mum and it was just lovely. Lovely atmosphere, delicious food, fast service, friendly staff, plenty of seating. Will definitively be returning again, such a nice little place for breakfast/lunch.

I like it here.Clean, plenty of parking, varied menu, coffees are nice. But,Omelette was a tad under cooked this time. (Cheese was still cold in the center)I do come here often and I have to say ‘the smell of the fish dishes overwhelm the entire place and it can be quite sickly’.

Just had a lovely lunch here for the 1st time, had to drive for nearly 1hour as coming up from London but was so worth it.Had a slight problem when burger arrived with cheese when ordered plain but manager was apologetic and refunded that meal back on card.Also jean went above and beyond by not charging us for tea, white hot chocolate, scone and jam and shortbread biscuit after the burger issue. Wow that's fab customer service thank you jean. Spent 2 hours here enjoying the surroundings as is a lovely classy pub..we will definitely be coming back here again with service and food top notch.

I have been meaning to pop to The BakeHouse for a while and it was as comforting and delicious as I had expected!The interior is stunning, set off of a main road it is in a quiet location. We were greeted with a smile and given the option to pick where to sit, which personally I love.The menu was great and all vegan and gluten free options were included on one menu.Food and drinks came out promptly and there was nothing that I could fault at all. The gluten free bread which they toasted was the best I have ever tried!We couldn't leave without trying some of their beautiful sweet treats which are all made in house. Again, they had a great variety of gluten free options.After this mornings visit we can't wait to come back to try lunch and dinner 😊

Nice roadside cafe. The Car park was full & the queue was out of the door for a Reason. Had a pub attached as well so even more reason to visit!

Excellent cream tea, the best scones to enjoy with a lovely courtyard overlooking the fields. Great service.

Best egg royale in the area and the coffee is spot on. One of our favourite spots for when out and about cycling in Essex.

Outdoor setting was brilliant and the fire pita great addition to the buzz and atmosphere of the place. The food was FANTASTIC! It was super busy and after visiting now know why. Thoroughly recommend.
