Very much enjoyed our evening at The Folly. Friendly and personable service, excellent food and wine. Looking forward to returning soon.

On mother's day I was treated to a wonderful meal, the food was amazing but I don't like the back room, we also had the experience 3 years ago on Christmas day. I find it very dark and lacking in atmosphere and the new building next to it is not helping with the light.

Awesome place superb food, excellent wine selection and attentive staff. Great location no riff-raff and a total pleasure.

While visiting London for Christmas 2019, we went here with friends who live just down the road from it.AMAZING! A typical English Pub as an American would think it to be, yet menu was AMAZING!Even had a vegetarian vegetable dish that as a meatarian I chose because the root vegetables were great ones! The deserts were great and of course the ale, beer, or watchever the current PC term is, was great. Great wine choice too.We had a fun dinner with friends in their 'comfort' place and it was warm, friendly, accepting of us ignorant Americans, and a great deal.A visit I will remember and if in Chelmsford again, I would eat there again!Great place. Again, the PEOPLE madr it that much better.

Went here last night, chose it because it was local but my oh my goodness hat a great choice local or not, the place is lovely and homely and clean and cosy, the staff were brilliant friendly and helpful and not stuffy or pushy in the least. The wine list is great and the food, well........all I can see is the chef definitely knows how to cook pork! We both had to have the same main as we're are belly pork lovers and we were not disappointed at all, it's was melt in the mouth gooood. We had 3 courses and a good bottle of merlot and Inc tip was £85, which to be honest in this day and age is hardly expensive for the type of food we were lucky enough to indulge in. We will definitely be back and will highly recommend this great little restaurant. As a chef myself I like to go out for good food and I left satisfied, full and somewhat inspired.

Stopped on the way past and had a great brunch. Service from the 2 young chaps was brilliant, very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

A great meal with staff so great in every way. My sister had a great day as we were able to be the last people in on the Sunday as friends could not get their any earlier for Linda's birthday meal. Thanks to all the staff.

One of the very best meals I've ever eaten in my life, what more can I say? Fabulous cosy atmosphere, attentive friendly staff. I absolutely loved my evening at the Folly Bistro.

Very nice gastro pub. I had this great "Super Roast" (turkey, beef, gammon, sage and pork stuffing, pork belly and some crackling sticks) all excellent quality meat. It was busy, but it was not noisy and easy to have a conversation, and the staff contributed to a lovely atmosphere. I would recommend without hesitation.

Service and staff really good. Food a bit over priced but good. It does amaze me with most restaurants including this one, when your food arrives the waiter asks you if you want any sauces then disappears for 5 minutes. Ask before we get our food.
