The Fox and Raven in Chelmsford

Very friendly welcoming pub. Food was good. Alex and Emily was amazing. Will definitely visit again soon 😊

We have been to the Fox and Raven on a few occasions and always had nice meals in the past.However last night we was celebrating a birthday and it appeared they were very short staffed!The food was bland (sea bass and steaks).Steaks came with no steak knives (we had to go find some ourselves).Drinks ran dry without anyone coming to ask if we needed any thing else.Very very slow service and everything felt so rushed when they did come to the table, like we couldn’t even ask for sauces etc (again we went to find some)I felt sorry for the hard working waiting staff that were there and you could see they just couldn’t cope.Overall wasn’t a very good experience and I’m very disappointed given our past experiences.

Not particularly impressed on arrival to find most of the menu items I was interested in were unavailable. Our server was lovely, attentive and quite frankly embarrassed about the missing items on the menu. The food we had was OK but nothing outstanding, not sure we will return...

This has been my go too pub for a while. Great pub food, nice outdoor area in the summer, plenty of parking. The staff are friendly and the app works really well to order food. Even better is if you sit outside you can bring your dog and they have dog biscuits, bowls and water for your four legged friend. Price is good too

Excellent meal couldn't fault the food and the staff were really helpful and attentive. Would not hesitate to recommend we had a lovely evening in very pleasant surroundings. Superb.

The staff who served us at the table were brilliant and faultless. I ordered the main course of cod, chips and mushy peas.When it arrived the chips were cold and the fish was not up to standard. I returned my meal and ten minutes later it was delivered to my table.The chips were very hot but unfortunately they were very hard and the fish was very greasy.I will not be returning with my family for another meal ar the Fox and Raven again.Regards Barry McIntyre.

Came here with my partner and our 7 month old for a NYE set menu. Food and service was below par with food arriving late between courses, steaks coming out overcooked and under seasoned and finally a “partial” cheeseboard arriving in a shoebox style container after we made a request to leave. I paid the bill, left the restaurant, got home to discover we had been given a couple of bits of cheese and a handful of crackers… very poor. In comparison to other restaurants who charge this kind of premium (£150 for both me and my partner) we were extremely underwhelmed. Would not recommend coming here for an dining experience. Terrible.

Our first time eating lunch here was just before Christmas last year, so only a few weeks ago, and we couldn't wait to go back. Visited for lunch today and we are thoroughly disappointed. Our luck again, a party booked at the same time of us visiting, resulting in us waiting for close to 30mins to have out starter plates cleared, and only after I stated this to one of the bar staff (maybe because we were sat in 'the Dog House/Room?). Pate and prawn cocktail starters were average and what I would expect. Main course of lamb, which eventually arrived, was nothing special, greasy jus (sauce), both meals looked like they'd been left under hotplate lights as the meat was dry, slightly over cooked, fatty meat and the mashed potato had a skin (I honestly believe that due to the party and being busy at the bar, we were forgotten about, but our food had been cooked and waiting to be served?). What a shame following our first visit and experience. We won't rush back. A response from the owner, on the above concer, would be appreciated. Unless you only respond to 5 star reviews?

Food was amazing- highly recommend Had a lovely waiter Callum who was very friendly/funny and made our experience fabulous. Will be back soon

On this occasion the food was as it should have been well cooked hot and fresh. Service was good. Of note the Doom Bar ale was excellent.
