The Golden Fleece in Chelmsford

The boxing was put on 2 hours late, then the lady didn’t know how to find the boxing. I found it for the bar staff, I then had to go back as it still wasn’t on all the screens and was told to wait, the bouncer asked me who I was looking for I said the young guy as the lady didn’t know how to do it and was told not to have “a pop”. Later in the night I saw someone who had been behaving strangely earlier being kicked out, I said to the bouncer that it had only been a matter of time until he was kicked out. He didn’t reply but instead went to another bouncer and came and told me he was offended and I had to leave. Absolutely shocking behaviour from the security and bar staff.

Enjoyed my drinks here. Friendly pub. Good vibes.. Did not appreciate being spoken to rudely by security however. Overall however, great time.

Don't drink here if you're a work man still in work clothes. I've been drinking here for nearly 20 years (not every week). I have always worn steel toe cap desert boots and never been trouble or given trouble. Tonight i tried to get in with my wife to be told by security, that i can't because I'm wearing steel toe cap boots and that, that's been the rules for years. What a blatant lie! I'm furious! Might have been a recent rule change but definitely not for years. Door supervisor needs to learn manners.

Popped in with my mate on the Friday and there was a live band. Absolutely brilliant.Rounds weren’t too bad either, I was on the water back end of the night (according to my friend) so a pretty cheap night for myself.Great atmosphere, will come again when I’m visiting Chelmsford.

Love the wonky Wednesday's karaoke nights and always great venue for watching the football! Food is okay, definitely recommend the pizzas one complaint would be it's always cold! Turn the heating up!

nice venue and food. only let down are the door staff! more so the one with no bottom teeth and grey beard! horrible man who thinks he is the bully of the playground. will not return to the bar while he is there. strongly recommend people avoid the golden fleece in the evenings at the weekends. shame really as the bar staff are awesome.

Always a good night and a good crowd. Live music nights are always the best. Good mix bag of people young and old.

Clean and good decor. Plenty of bar staff. Love the tvs around the pub for sports.Garden an added bonus for a central town pub.Haven't tried food so can't comment. Drinks a bit pricey but a nice pub overall.

Stunning venue. With stunning beer choices, stunning food, a stunning quiz night and stunning views (if your friends across the table are good looking).Don't come if you don't wished to be stunned. You have been warned.20/10.

Simply the best pub in Chelmsford. Amazing for nights out without drama, great for reasonably priced food, and features great live music with local talent.Staff are always so friendly and genuine, I always love the atmosphere.Also strongly recommend the free quiz on a Thursday- we're yet to win, but fingers crossed for this time!
