Thought we could give the Griffin at Danbury a try as it is under new managership. The restaurant has been given a tasteful makeover with a nice and fresh overtone. The Griffin is now principally a fish restaurant but it does have meat and meat-free choices. Whilst the prices may be a little on the higher side the quality of the food is excellent and I’d rather pay a bit more for a nicely cooked meal than try to chomp my way through a piece of shoe leather. As starters I tried white onion soup and my daughter had the scallops. Both were delicious. I chose the pork belly which was of a good cut and cooked just right whilst my daughter had the skate wing which was fresh and full of taste.sides were the triple cooked chips, cauliflower cheese and green beans, again nicely cooked. The chocolate brownie desert and liqueur coffee rounded the meal off nicely. The service deserves a mention as it was polite and friendly.Overall a great transition to the Griffin, smart decor, ultra fresh food and good staff. I highly recommend it.

Popped into The Griffin today for the first time since it has been taken over, well I’m blown away, the decor, the service, the drink and food… it’s faultless. Really lovely lady - possibly the new owner- took the time to chat with us, we’ve already booked to go back for a lunch in a couple of weeks. Highly recommended.

We had a very enjoyable lunch at the Griffin. The food was excellent. The table looked superb with high quality tablecloth, glasses, cutlery and china. The dining areas are light and attractive - the beautiful interior decor of this historic building lends to the fine ambiance. And the service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive. Altogether a great experience - it exceeded my expectations

Never written a review previously, but we were really impressed by The Griffin today. A Sunday lunch out is always difficult, Roast potatoes are better fresh and homemade, there are too many variables to tick off! But this was the best Sunday lunch we have had out for a very long time - Octopus and Crab to start, both delicious and we opted for the pork roast as a main - the pork, accompaniments; cauliflower cheese, cabbage, roast potatoes, gravy were all absolutely outstanding. Excellent variety of drinks with a professional and pleasant service from both the waitresses, waiters and owner Audrey who was absolutely lovely. We have booked a table for 8 in a couple of weeks.

Great indoor seating and outdoor seating garden area, lovely pub/restaurant,very friendly young staff and without a shadow of a doubt the best and I mean the very best Thai green curry I've eaten and I've tried a few, the Thai lady chef is lovely and even comes and talks to customers when she able to and not to busy in the kitchen and one last thing her son who also works there is an absolute credit to her, polite, attentive and so respectful and well mannered,

We chose the Griffin for our wedding anniversary meal as my family are fussy and only like chips and burger-style food, while I'm not keen. So the fact that they do Thai food really pleased me. We also wanted to support a local business. Staff were very attentive and we received a great service. We were the only ones seated inside as it was too hot to be out and we felt safe.I loved the Thai food, which was excellent. The only reason I haven't given 5 stars is that we specifically asked for my daughter to have a *plain* burger with nothing in it at all... And it had mayo in it. Mayo was also in my husband's burger, despite it not being mentioned on the menu. If it had been on the menu we would have made sure to ask for no mayo as the whole family dislikes it! We didn't say anything as we didn't want to make a fuss-- we scraped it off.Overall I would return, particularly while the Eat Out to Help Out offer is on.
