The Ship Public House in Chelmsford

Really nice pub. Food was great too, big portions and felt home cooked. Would go back here

The beer was good, the food not so much, my burger was absolutely fine but my wife had the Chicken Skewers noodle salad, the chicken was very poor quality and barely warm, same for the noodles.

A long while since I was there. Welcomed, enjoyed a good lunch, picked from a sufficient number of available choices. The same applies to the deserts. A tranquil atmosphere at that time of day. Recommended.

Wonderfull place, wonderfull peoples, Champions Leage Final. We was there 4 children to eat something...and some man help us to site.The food was lovely, the peolple was amaizing, the athmosphere was great...

I stayed 4 nights and had dinner after work. My ensuite bedroom was very spacious and very clean. One particular staff helped me to carry my suitcases,as there are quite a lot of stairs. A lovely atmosphere in this traditional British pub, the homemade food was amazing. Excellent experience... Thank you so much staff at the Ship for working so hard.

The pub was very nice and the food was good...Unfortunately the room we were given was so out dated it was depressing...Old unvarnished furniture and the dust so thick on the window and blinds it looked like it had been a very long time since it had been cleaned

Last night was my first stay at The Ship and I couldn’t recommend it enough!Three of us stayed in a 3-Single Bed room which had a shared Lavatory and Bathroom.My first thought when entering was how great the atmosphere was in the Bar area, which is probably best explained as being a Traditional British Public House. The rooms were nice and especially clean and every member of staff from the bar area to the cleaning staff were so polite and accommodating.We were performing that night at The Bassment just down the road which proved to be the perfect location for being luggage back and forth from the hotel and venue. Though if anyone needed to be near the Train Station, it’s a great location for that as well!My only complaint would be that some of the hallways smelt of smoke but when you’re in a hotel above a public house, it is something that comes with the territory so I don’t hold that comment too strongly compared to the rest of the experience.Would definitely stay again, it was great value for money!

Went to the ship today for a mother's day lunch got a warm welcome and the food wasamazing, had ribeye steak, was cooked to perfection, one of the few places that can manage a blue steak. Mum really enjoyed it, they also put flowers on the table for the mum's to take. Five star

A bit loud and boisterous in the evening but that is to be expected from a pubAccess to rooms is through a number of staircases and shared facilities are not on the same floor as the roomsFood finishes at around 4pm so no good for evening mealNice helpful and friendly staff but no dedicated parking

Had a friends 70th birthday celebration here. We had a reserved area at one end of the pub. Everything was really great. Buffet was excellent. Staff polite & efficient. A very good afternoon/evening.
