The ship stock in Chelmsford

Popped in for lunch this afternoon. Was greeted with a smile upon entry,food was great,service was great.Will definitely return Thanks

Really nice pub, and great food. But they need to look at portion sizes. While the food is nice - you pay a huge amount for what you get.Once they work out portion sizes this will be an amazing place. It until then we will be going elsewhere.

I had a chicken burger and a friend ordered a fish and chips. Neither of us enjoyed our meals.The chicken burger appeared to be something from the freezer of a supermarket with little taste. A rip off to be honest.The service was friendly though, warranting the two stars overall.

Two visit review... First before xmas, enjoyed the service and the food... so we went back as I don't like washing up on Sundays...What a change..1 - food OK. Not great.. tbh, difficult to find a great Sunday roast in a pub anyway. Veg however consisted of 1 piece of parsnip, cauli cheese (was ok) and a carrot/pea mix! Roasts were not made that day, not a chance.. this cannot be defended as roasts pots are as important as the meat!2 - Bar staff friendly and welcoming...Then 30 mins into our food3 - our eating area was descended on by what seemed to be friends &/or family of the pub landlord (difficult to make out who was who) Total disregard of others in the pub which resulted in 'someone' leaning over my son to turn on football on the TV, literally on the wall, 6 inches above our heads, them crowding around us like it was the world cup, shouting from all, ordering drinks etc, some going behind the bar (suggesting they are more than just patrons) and to top it off, the piano on the other side of the pub was being 'played' by someone who knew three chords... no tune, just three chords... I think she worked there? This went on for the final 10 mins we stayed, but it looked like they didnt plan to have her stop anytime soon.. 'luckily' the noise of the playing was dampened by the new friends and family that had joined us uninvited at our table as we finished up as quick as possible and made our exit.As everything else was OK.. I'll give the ship 3 stars for the food. 4 star for the guys working there and 1 star for experience... sorry, but I won't be back..

Did a delivery to Chelmsford. My wife, mum in law and my self booked a meal at the Ship. Nice pub with old beams and a real wood burner. Staf did a great job. Ploughmans was ok and the Ghostship in good condition. Will call again if in area........Roy Green. Ps. Sorry for leaving crums on table, it wes a very crusty roll.

The Curvy Riders Motorcycle Club (Essex Region) descended on The Ship Stock today for our annual Christmas lunch and we had the best day.Maria and staff looked after us and didn’t miss a beat, even though we were a big group. The food was amazing (big portions!) and everyone said it was great value for money. We’ll definitely be back.

Absolutely amazing staff and service. Not overly priced either. My boy wanted to go there for his 8th birthday meal with his friends. So 7 children at 8 years old with how noisy etc kids their age can be, was always so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Kids enjoyed their meals. And they do a banging Sunday roast aswell!! Thank you guys at the ship!!

Lunch on a Wednesday... We had a steak baguette with fries - wonderful. Sticky toffee pudding was "the best ever" according to husband. Pub was cosy and well done out. Staff very friendly and were lovely to us and our baby.

Had a fantastic night out for dinner, drinks and karaoke on my birthday with family and friends!!! Fun was had by all!!! Staff were friendly. Food was delicious. Great atmosphere.

Excellent family run local pub! Top quality food and even better service! Incredibly friendly and welcoming! Brilliant experience as a whole and would totally recommend to anyone either going for a few drinks with friends and family or a wanting to treat yourselves to fantastic meal! 10/10!
