The Whalebone Pub and Scrimshaws Restaurant in Chelmsford

Went for lunch, small playe meal of fish, chips and peas. Well cooked and plenty for a lunch or someone older who is not so active. Lovely staff and ambient atmosphere.

Booked a table for 4 last night, arrived and was greeted by the owner who had explained that he had tried contacting me a couple of times which I hadn't noticed. This was due to the kitchen having to to close early.We decided to stay for a drink, was shown to a table and to our surprise the lovely owners decide to cook our meals themselves. What a wonderful gesture and wasn't disappointed. We were made very welcome by all the staff and the food was great.Thank you again, we will certainly be back again.

Lovely fish and chips. The sticky toffee pudding was brilliant and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

I was very very impressed with the quality of the food here.Came to dine for a friend’s birthday, and as much as the overall look of the pub is a very standard pub look, the food in the restaurant area was exceptional!I had the creamy garlic mushrooms, and the steak. It was very good.The prices are reasonable and the waitress was friendly and helpful.

Food is out of this world, friendly atmosphere and staff are very accommodating. Highly recommended

Lovely pub, particularly in the summer. Good beer garden. Great for the children.
