The White Horse in Chelmsford

Tardis of a pub - way bigger inside than it looks! We went for their Thursday 8pm quiz night which was good fun, decent rounds and lots of teams. Just make sure you book a table for the quiz if you're planning on going as it gets busy.Food menu is varied and while we didn't eat, it looked and smelled good, some good offers on both food and drinks too. The car park is tiny but you can park up nearby side roads if there's no space.

Visited last night. Looks lovely inside and staff very friendly. The food however was very bad. Half the food was missing on the plates to what the menu said. All of the food came out literally cold. It looked terrible. We got a refund and left. It's a shame and I wouldn't go back or recommend sorry.

Service was below par. You girls more interested in dieting with locals. Took servel times of asking to get served didn't order any food as it was a ridiculous amount of wait time. Was a special day or anything and bar wasn't that busy. Doubtif I would go back there again.

I went in for a quick drink and was pleasantly surprised. Nice decor friendly service andvthe coldest pepsi max ever. Menu looked good. Will have to return and try it out.

Probably the most appalling restaurant service I've known. We were very clear with what we wanted when ordering at the till yet they still managed to get the order wrong 3 times once it had arrived, which had taken an 1h30m+ to finally arrive although the restaurant was very quiet and had very few customers. They would switch the children meal to an adults then when we sent it back, they would refuse to help and denied we had ordered a children's - it was a constant back and forth with the manager until they listened to the customer. When the waitress would come to pick up the plates, she would ask one of the children there to pick up a plate for her to hand it over when there was plenty of room to move around the table to pick up herself as asking a young child (6) is dangerous. By the end, the price was very inflated and after asking for the receipt saw they had charged us a lot extra for sauces which we did not ask for nor wanted or even touched while they had also not changed the price back down from the adult meal to children's. Do not recommend and never going again.

Good pub grub. We had rump steak which was very good and extremely reasonably priced. Service slow in trying to order food and for meals to come up.

We found the food was very poor. The katsu curry was very bland and my steak was very well done despite me asking for medium. Service was really slow and so many food and drink items on the menu unavailable. It's been really nice in the past but not recently.

Served cocktails with mould in by the assistant manager who then tried to tell me that it wasn't mouldy. Tried to prove to me it wasn't mouldy by showing my the box it was in that was completely cakes in mould. Ended up getting a glass of wine instead.Normally I have a great time here with my family. But that was just too much. Gross!

There were four of us eating and drinking last night. None of us have been to The White Horse before and we weren’t disappointed. Service was excellent. Food was spot on. The pub/restaurant has a lovely warm cosy atmosphere and the welcome from Debbie in particular was fantastic. In fact all of the staff made us welcome. We’ll definitely be back

Not very good visit. Food verrry average and pricey.I ordered veg burger and got dry pate with with tomato leftovers and dead lettuce leaf. Asked for NEW BURGER and got THE SAME BUN AND PATE with tomatoes replaced and new lettuce leaf. It was dry, cold and tasted awful. I couldn’t eat it.Manager took it off the bill which was nice of her (thank you)Kitchen to improve. Bit time.
