Alishan in Colchester

Alishan Tandoori is one of the best Indian Takeaway in the Colchester Area. All I order from an Indian restaurant or a takeaway is Pilau Rice and Lamb Madras and Alishan makes the best one in Colchester. I have never been let down by them. Their takeaway service is quick and reliable. I highly recommend Alishan Tandoori in Colchester.

Delicious authentic food, excellent service and takeaway arrived promptly! Would definately recommend to anyone who's looking a quick delicious takeaway. The food was piping hot, flavoursome with generous quantities.

The food was absolutely delicious. The lamb curry, chicken curry and the kebabs were very tasty, cooked excellently to perfection. I loved the foods very much. They are probably the best food place in this town now.

My experience was average at best which is a shame because I used to like it here, staff seemed miserable. The sauce was lovely but the lamb has caused me to need new teeth, although I did have a snack later when I picked it back out 😋 the tandoori mixed grill was dry, however the poppadoms were lovely. Hopefully they were having a bad day but I'm unlikely to return here.

It's a pretty standard curry house really. The food was fine but nothing to write home about. Service was attentive but not amazing. The interior feels a bit dated and tired. It just seems like the place needs to raise its game a bit in the face of growing competition around the town center.

Food is of a decent sized portion at a reasonable price and the quality is good.However when the service takes over an hour to deliver your mains when the restaurant is nearly empty (us and 2 other tables) then something is wrong.No apologies given. When between 8 of you your spending over 150 pounds you'd expect a little more attention to detail.

Horrible food and awful customer service. Poor hygiene and their utensils are unclean and dirty, see pictures attached. We ordered chicken Tikka masala curry, and you won't believe it came mixed meat lamb and possibly other meats. I do not eat other meats except chicken, so this was shocking for me. We complained and waiter confirmed the mixed up, and he was absolutely unapologetic and instead insisted that this was just a small mistake by cook. Never seen such as horrible food quality. See pic attached, you can buy better tikka masala from Tesco. This restaurant has ashamed the traditional Indian cuisine, and in fact it's not even an authentic Indian restaurant but run by Bangladeshi cooks. Avoid. Hard to believe that some people have rated it as 5 star, may be these are friends of the owner.

This is our favourite Indian restaurant in Colchester but with 3 young kids we don't get to eat out very often so we were so happy when they started doing delivery. Delivery time could be slow when it's busy but it's certainty worth the wait. Delicious food every time. We've never had a bad meal from here.

Lovely service, lovely staff, lovely atmosphere, great prices and tasty food!This is my go to place when I'm with my friends, we all enjoy heading to here because we know the menu will offer a combination we haven't had before as well as the option of classic dishes people like and are familiar with in Indian restaurants!Poppadoms and onion bhajis are gluten free which adds to the appeal! :)Not to mention the staff are friendly and patient. Me and my friendd feel welcome here.
