Pretty poor. A menu that doesn’t appear to have been updated this century.Tiny plate of curry with a popadum with the consistency of a piece of greasy cardboard. Tasty but clearly a microwave ready meal.Overpriced for such a small plate. Weirdly it would have been cheaper to order 2 identical curries from the “special” menu.I was not offered the “special” menu.Two stars for the lovely stuff struggling to balance customer service against corporate greed and indifference.Signed up for the mailing list to get a discount, no email arrived. Avoid, unless you love bland, predictable food

We had an enjoyable meal, despite not being able to order our first choice (the restaurant was out of a few things but we understand things like this, so we weren't bothered). However, although the staff were nice enough, we were pretty much left to our own devices and were left waiting for a bit longer than usual - the restaurant was not busy, so it's not that the staff couldn't be attentive due to the high volume of clientele.All in all, nice food and lovely environment, just would've liked a bit more attentiveness from staff.

Well my roast beef was well under cooked!! had to ask for more to be replaced, 10-minutes later the waitress arrived with a complete fully cooked beef roast dinner ! the service was quick the first serving was poor for the beef, but the Chef more than made up for it after my mentioning it. Service was quick friendly competent.Also a few more roast potatoes per serving would be a good idea)

Food was nice but I think they were running short on food as there was half plate

We had booked for dinner to celebrate my birthday going by the menu choice. The main course was delicious apart from being informed there wasn't much gravy available as they had nearly run out of it when my friend requested some more for his pie, however. this may not be a major issue to some, but the dessert choice my husband opted for wasn't available, also there wasn't any custard leaving 2 men & me dismayed at this! This was a Friday evening & surely these issues shouldn't have happened, these issues spoilt our enjoyment of our meals.

We had an enjoyable late breakfast here prior to going to Colchester zoo. Service was friendly and food was plentiful. Choice of fried breakfasts, pastries, cereals etc Overall a good choice and good value for money. Kids eat free with each paying adult which is a good bonus

Hubby took me as a surprise for breakfast. It was really lovely. Food was cooked nice and plenty of it. Eat as much as you like. Cooked and continental. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend. Came out really satisfied, hubby too !!

Nit sure if this is fair to comment as these are strange times but, when the list of items not available on the menu was longer than the menu itself then something is wrong. The manager had a pleasantness by-pass although his staff seemed very nice. The whole experience was topped off by the restaurant being closed for breakfast in the morning due to a gas leak which hadn't been communicated to the next door hotel whose rooms were mainly on the kitchen side of the restaurant.Won't be going back for a long time

The staff are polite and friendly. The food menu is abit limited but I do understand as other restaurants are still serving a limit menu's too. The food is ok nothing to really shout about but It does gets upgraded to a 4* as £9.50 for unlimited breakfast (and kids eat free) isn't bad value.
