Curry-India Tandoori Restaurant in Colchester

A girl does love an Indian at least once a month!A girl like me is very particular about where I get it from as I cannot tolerate any spice higher than mild.Curry India is in my opinion one of the very best Indian restaurants & takeaway that you can have in Colchester!!Eat in or takeaway the food is of the utmost deliciousness you can get......This time I had it delivered & it came in these reusable containers, the smell emanating from them was like "omg I can't wait to dig in" variety.I ordered for my guests & myself the king prawn special as well as chicken tikka biriani, lamb biriani, mushroom rice, chicken tikka, keema naans & the mint sauce combo dips.The food did not last long as it was extremely delicious & enjoyed by all. The mushroom rice went very well with the king prawns........naan bread was soft & full of meat.I highly recommend you do either go to the restaurant to eat or enjoy it from the comfort of your own home.The restaurant is not too far from Colchester Town Centre at all. Wouldn't rush back. Food was fine, nothing more and nothing less. Tables are so close together that its virtually impossible to move around the restaurant and you end up feeling involved in the conversation of neighbouring tables due to the proximity. Staff pleasant throughout the service although a bit of a mutter at the end that they were very busy and we should book next time. Seemed ab unnecessary comment given that they has managed to accommodate us with ease and relieve us of £75.

Dined in with a bunch of friends before a large event and we were swindled into paying for complimentary poppadoms. I know how much markup is made and it's rubbish they'd do this to new customers.Food was fine. Most people in the party enjoyed the meal but it was nothing special.

The Nepalese dishes makes this restaurant different from the normal run of 'Indian' restaurants. The speedy and friendly service makes a joy of eating here

Booked a table on new year's eve arrived and then taken upstairs with what I could on discribe a scruffy store room with 4 tables which they didn't mention when booking and the food was terrible would definitely not recommend

Nice food, good ambience, clean place

Disappointed. Used to eat here about 10 years ago after a few beers in the Hospital Arms, and the food was always OK.Had a takeaway on Friday 10th September.Both mine and my daughter's Lamb dishes were OK, but my Wife and my Sons chicken meat was really dried out with a sour taste to it.I judge an Indian restaurant on its Dahl, and what we got was poorThick, stodgy & tastless.Won't be going back.

My local. Second meal here and first since lockdown and the food is still excellent and the service quick and friendly.

Very relaxed restaurant and very reasonably priced delicious Asian cuisine. Not the smartest place but well worth a visit with friendly staff and a great menu also offering Nepalese dishes. Close to the town centre so lots of parking nearby.

Organisation needs a lot of work. Being the only critic on the table was unfortunate for the waiting team as they couldn't get a thing right for me. Having said that my issues were met with apology and replacements were swift. The history and future of the place is timeless and I still reminisce from 20 years ago. The Nepalese influence is brilliant and does not take away from the Indian roots. Food very good service an off night
