Dedham Boathouse in Colchester

Took my family here for my Mum's 60th birthday. Staff were lovely, lunch was delicious. We had a very large table outside as it was a warm day. We finished off by taking a couple of boats out for a row. Perfect way to finish a perfect day with the family!

Me and my girlfriend had breakfast here on 13th Feb. I had the The Kitchen Breakfast and my girlfriend had the Fried Egg & Field Mushroom, Toast, Parsley Butter, Rocket. My girlfriend has a gluten allergy so her breakfast was made with gluten free bread toast. It is great to be able to dine in a place that caters for people with this allergy.Both breakfasts were superb and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The 2 flat white coffees I had were equally good.The service was also friendly and welcoming. My girlfriend also had a slice of gluten free Carrot Cake to take away which she enjoyed once we returned home.Looking for to coming back again for the Row & Dine Evenings in the Summer.

So pleased we found this place. This was our second visit this year and we'll be back again. Lovely warm and welcoming place, with good fresh food and fab views.

Lunch menu was very limited on my visit and it didn't seem to know if it was a Christmas menu or not on 27/12/21. However the cakes looked to die for but I didn't have the time to stay for desert, pity that. Being based in Dedham things are a bit expensive everywhere but it is that sort of restaurant so you do expect to pay a bit more for it. Nice location by the side of the river, which was very high.

What can I say perfect .The staff and food were lovely very enjoyable

This is a must if you are in the area!We didn't plan on visiting the boathouse at all, but when driving past it looked too good to miss.The food was amazing! Also well priced.Location is also very pretty.

Lovely place to spend a few hours, you dont have to be experianced in rowing, just have fun, you wont be the only one steering into the bank, be assured!Had a wonderful breakfast then a cruise down the river, you can even take a picnic and paddle opposite the boathouse. Incredibly popular though so get parked early as parking is problematic past midday especially if its a warm sunny!

Staff were accommodating eventhough they can't understand simple instruction. We were ordering our meal in one go at the bar ie mains, dessert and coffee but somehow the woman at the till keep insisting that if we order in one go everything we ordered will be put in our table in one go. Took ages for her to grasp (to agree) that we can just tell her when we are ready for our dessert and coffee. It's not that hard.

Enjoyed a lovely lunch today, the menu has options for cooked meals, salads, sandwiches or just snacks like their vegetarian scotch eggs. Attentive and friendly staff. Will definitely return soon.

A lovely afternoon with lunch a bit of rowing. Its such good value for money and rowing on the river was so peaceful but so much fun! Well worth it for a day of loveliness. Food was great and service fab too.
