Great food, with some very original touches (lemons wrapped in muslin for example). Wonderful service, for a busy hotel, in prime location. Had a splendid long weekend here.

Afternoon Tea with my boy! Gorgeous tea service, great scones and desserts. The Rose Room is blowsy and fabulously unapologetic. Service was excellent but at no time pushy. 3/4 sandwiches were good - egg was a bit under-filled and dry.Parking was a challenge despite having its own gated area. I ended up in a "do not park here" area - no choice, but no problem. Lovely choice of teas - we each had a different, big pot. There's a nice outdoor patio area, but sadly no Lovely views or grounds.

False advertising and misleading. Photos on booking.com are of the best suite with freestanding baths, we only found one photo of the suite we ended up with, bathroom wasn't as nice as in the one in the photos, turns out there is only one suite with the freestanding baths, carpets were nasty old and stained, suite looked completely different than in the photos. After raising the issue with reception I was told that they don't have control of what booking is advertising and that next time I should call and ask for specific room (how? if the photos are clearly showing one version of the bathroom) suggesting that it was my mistake, no sorry no action taken to make up for it and all that for almost £400 per night.

Just stopped in for a drink in the sunshine to the rear of the hotel. Staff were pleasant and welcoming. Not a great selection of beers available, just the usual mainstream lager. Something local would be a nice touch!Pleasant seating area in the sunshine and or under cover to enjoy our drinks, although the garden area needs some TLC. Somewhat overgrown and wild in areas.

We stayed here at The Greyfriars on the 20th May for our wedding night!Firstly The Venetian suite was absolutely beautiful, breakfast which was included was really lovely too. However a bit lack lustre on the fact that it was our wedding night! I have read other reviews where rose petals were popped out and complimentary wine was given - sounds lovely! When left the Saturday and I realised that I had left my IPhone charger and my pearl drop earrings worn for my wedding! When my husband called at around 3pm he explained I had left these items he was told the housekeeping staff had not handed anything in! That they would ask tomorrow (Sunday) to ask!I then called and was told that they had not managed to ask housekeeping as were too busy and they would call me once they had!I never received any call!Very disappointing that my belongings have gone missing in a room we stayed in, I remember fully the charger being by the bed and myself not getting it out of the socket! As for the earrings maybe they were hoovered up who knows but I would not go back here again! Very sad!

Lovely place for a special occasion (food superb but pricey).Service was first class with nothing too much trouble.Super decor and ambiance, altogether a wonderful evening.

·

Amazing attentive and friendly service with a great menu and selection of wines. Outside terrace for summer drinking and they even have a cigar parlour with a good selection of whiskeys and Cuban cigars available to purchase from the bar. Cocktail menu is great!

Went for afternoon tea with friends. It was expensive at just under £30.I ordered gentleman's which has more savoury items than sweet. It was disappointing. Not much on offer, 3 small finger sandwiches with meagre filling, a fritter of some sort and a tiny mini beef Wellington which had over cooked beef inside and raw pastry on the bottom. A fruit and a plain scone also.Good choice of tea however, and it was delicious. Napiery and China beautiful and service good. Shame about the food.

I had a lovely meal in the restaurant with friends, food was amazing, we had the set menu & for the quality of food was reasonably priced for a luxury establishment. The service was very good & attentive.

Lovely staff, beautiful location. The afternoon tea sandwiches were delicious. Unfortunately, I was not very impressed with the cakes. I will definitely be getting a gentleman's afternoon tea next time and am looking forward to it.
