Half Butt Inn in Colchester

This is a lovely local pub with friendly people and staff .....I've had the food here and i was good ...it as a great beer garden too

Rather disappointed, limited lunch menu, mains were average, puddings disappointing. Very clean, kids play area looks promising unfortunately weather stopped play.

Went to this pub. Excellent place and hospitality by Paula and Bekky (manager) had made our experience good. We ordered children menu and the kids loved it. With the kids play area was the icing on the cake. You have darts and billiards.. it's to go place in Colchester for family for a drink and food along with family time... True British pub with Sunday roast.. as expected was full to the brim. With a very big garden space it's and to go place.

We only met in the car park of the Half Butt Inn to purchase seafood from the mobile van of the renowned Dukes Seafood of Mersea Island. Excellent seafood. Best mussels I have ever tasted and I am in my 70's. We will be back next week !

Went for first time last night, great play area which the boyfriend's grandchildren loved All of our food was lovely ,hot and the chips were to die for 😋 very friendly and helpful staff 😀

Attended on a Saturday with my partner and 2 children. Only us and 1 other table in the whole premises. Pub look great on the outside and I can not fault the garden and play equipment for the children. That being said the food was a real let down. Had a chicken burger that can only be compared to Iceland frozen foods, kids portions were the same as the adults (small for adults). The chips were the best part of all 4 meals. The atmosphere and staff were cold and not welcoming and not to mention that state of the portal loo's. Honestly disappointed with what we were hoping would be a really good pub to eat at wih the children on a regular occasion. With food improving this has the potential to be a great family place to eat out.

Good for first impression. Family friendly! Tasty food, chilled drinks and lovely custard & crumble! We felt welcome and kids had a lot of fun in the playground area.

It's open again!Lovely pub with a huge beer garden complete with climbing frame for the kids.We went once before but they were shutting down so I think they must be under new management.They didn't have any menus so the waiter had to talk us through what they did have which as it was a Sunday was roast anyway.They served it in a huge Yorkshire pudding and the portion wasn't too big or small and was quite tasty.
