Marlborough Head Inn, Dedham in Colchester

Excellent roast. I had the pork and got plenty. My friend got the chicken though and wasn't much meat. But all very scrummy and the staff were friendly and good service. The atmosphere was relaxed and felt like a nice pub. We don't know the area but it was nice for a day our and walked along the river.

Friendly staff, solid performance on food, decent wine although young staff need more training on wine/drinks names etc. Excellent coffee. Great local pub with food

Had a great Sunday roast here with the family. Well seasoned and very tasty gravy. Service was attentive. Value was good. 4 stars only because of reduced menu however still good selection.

A lovely Tudor pub in the wonderful Dedham. We had a very pleasant lunch. The menu is limited due to covid but when restrictions end I expect a good and varied menu. Friendly service

A really lovely find in a beautiful little village! Could not recommend it highly enough.Food has been amazing.Room is great.Whole place is quirky and full of character. Stunning vegan Sunday roast with excellent gravy! Lovely thoughtful staff (particularly the lady behind the bar who found a way to get us a table depite not booking for what was a very busy Sunday roast service) and very dog friendly. Also the building itself is gorgeous and we just had a lovely time sitting bar the open fire. Can't wait to come back!

Burger was not cooked, we sent the food back and the manager tried to find an excuse as to why it wasn't cooked. When the food came back, it still wasn't cooked, so we went without having a main.The dessert was good, we had that. At the end of the meal, as a gesture of goodwill they removed our main off of the bill.Other than the above, the atmosphere was good, the only reason I have marked it so low is because of the dispute with the uncooked burger.

We went for an impromptu meal early one Sunday evening and were not disappointed. We both enjoyed the most delicious roast pork. Great value for money, delightful friendly atmosphere. I would have like my G&T in a more attractive glass, but I will just remember to ask for that.

So I couldn’t be bothered to cook a roast today and I was moaning that a pub or restaurants roast is ever as nice as a home roast. But thought I’d try the Marlborough anyway. And they proved me wrong. That roast was lush. The veg was perfect, the gravy was tasty, the roast potatoes were just right and the meat was good quality. A good Yorkshire too. The staff were super friendly and it was just an all round lovely experience. Thank you for saving me from having to cook. This place has really got it right

Wow! Above and Beyond all Customer Service expectations!! AMAZING! We had not been to the area before and so did not realise we would have a challenge in finding a taxi to take us to a celebration party...no problem for Andy the Proprietor as he says "I can take you myself" Not only did he take us but he picked us up as well! It is moments like this that leave lasting memories and make you want to return again and again! Thank you! We would definitely recommend The Marlborough - the breakfast is delicious, the rooms are wonderfully authentic and the staff are outstanding!
