Well-situated and pleasantly located, good size car park which has easy access to the entrance. Friendly, efficient staff who were responsive. A very nice place for a meeting in the bookable room or lunch and dinner.

Exceeded my expectations! Was a little sceptical before we visited on a Friday lunch time at the end of January, partly because the restaurant does not allow you to book a table, and then when I arrived I discovered you must order at the bar, which I am not a fan of. However, my doubts soon evaporated. A really nice ambience in the restaurant, didn’t feel snooty, and the staff were helpful and attentive without trying to over-service you. Ordered starter and mains at the bar, and later on desert too, and never had to wait as there was always someone available to take my order. The food arrived in a reasonable amount of time and when it did it was fantastic. The highlight had to be the terrific Dorset snails I had for starter and the delectable chocolate tart I had for desert. My wife had the chocolate brownie, which was the best chocolate brownie she had ever eaten. Would I return? Yes in a heartbeat!

Disappointing. I have been eating at Milsoms for years & it is one of our favourite restaurants, but I don’t think the menu has changed for about 2 years & today we had a very lengthy wait for our food (45 mins). I had finished my main by the time my side order arrived and it was so chaotic that we decided against dessert. It is not possible for the poor staff to create an enjoyable experience for customers when there are too many covers for the restaurant capacity. Isn’t it about time that Milsoms introduced table booking to stagger service & ensure that customers have a relaxed & enjoyable experience? PS PLEASE change the menu soon

We always have a fabulous time at Milsoms, the staff are very professional, the bar staff are particularly knowledgeable in wine selection, the ambience is as delicious as the food..... Milsoms is an experience. The only thing I don't like is that you can't book a table !!

This is a good venue out in the countryside near Colchester/ Dedham. The staff are helpful and friendly and the tables are well spread out for Covid safety. The only downside of the restaurant is the somewhat limited menu. The most popular seems to be the burger and fries. On the plus side it isn't very expensive.

Wasn't their best day. Haven't had a chance to go for a while and was disappointed. Duck tacos were too salty, 2 new potatoes arrived for 4.95, said more would come but they didn't and the lamb had a sharp object in. Tasty, but hugely disappointing.

We had a lively overnight stay at the Milsom hotel. The rooms are delightfully decorated. Warm and comfortable. The staff are welcoming and helpful. Nothing is too much trouble. The restaurant had a good choice of food and wines. We will definitely make a return visit.

Lovely Hotel with a great outside marquee so we could eat with the dogs. Staff truly great and food amazing. Best Rice pudding I have ever had in my 62 yrs. Thank you.

Milsons have changed their menu for the better! I would highly recommend their new version of roast beef. Three large and thickly sliced pieces of medium rare beef and a giant yorkshire pudding with four roast potatoes. Definitely a hearty meal. However, coming home and looking at the bill, I think £6.50 is rather too steep in price for a pint of fresh orange juice!

Great food and wine. Slightly pricey, but good atmosphere. We met at 5.30 to secure a table as no booking policy. Interesting menu, good wines and friendly place. Service slightly odd as you have to take your written order to the bar, so not as relaxing as it could be, but made for a good eve. We were not rushed and the food was great....
