Naka Thai in Colchester

Had a lovely meal on a Sunday evening at the new location of the restaurant down by the Hythe. Pat has done a great job here, the restaurant looks smart, will definitely look at hiring the function room in the future!Great food and good prices. Particularly the duck in tamarind sauce and Massaman curry! Will be back

Excellent new venue and so much to choose from on the menu. There are plenty of choices for everyone if your vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free.The meal was outstanding, and the service was excellent, would thoroughly recommend.Food was so fresh, tasty, and vibrant. I've given Naka Thai a 5 star rating for the food. It was absolutely delicious. The flavour and the rice was all absolutely spot on.However.......The waiting time was abhorrent. Horrific. I ordered at 1230 lunchtime and the food arrived at 2.20 mid afternoon!! The driver was lovely who delivered it and apologetic but it should not take that long to deliver the food.Next time I would collect my food, I'll never opt for delivery again.

Fantastic vegan menu, never been here before or even heard of it, but the 2 places we tried to go too were closed or no longer doing lunch, so we chanced a pip in and they had a great 3 page vegan menu. Staff super friendly and attentive, food just fabulous , draught beer , heating was on and it was a great lunch out . Highly reccomend this place vegan or not.

Naka Thai restaurant. Been a while since I was here last. Still top quality food. Service is second to none, everyone asking if we were satisfied, even the chef came out. Couldn't fault it. Had the chef's special platter for starters followed by angry lamb (!) The lamb might have been angry but I was happy. Quite spicy, just how I like it. Added egg fried rice, more than enough. Definitely going again.

We have been loyal customers of Naka Thai for a number of years but this evening they have fallen far below our expectations.At 8pm I ordered via Just Eat. The order was accepted by the restaurant with an estimated 30 minute delivery time, perfect!At around 8:30pm I received a text message to say the order was delayed by roughly 30 minutes. Not a problem, these things happen and it’s great to see they were busy.At around 9pm our order was cooked and on it’s way, a 10 minute drive away from the restaurant.At 9:30pm we hadn’t received our food so I called the restaurant and spoke with staff who assured me it was on its way and would be another 3-5 minutes.At 9:40pm I called again. They chased the delivery driver and I was told he was 5 minutes away.At 09:50pm our food was still no where to be seen, nearly an hour after it left the restaurant.Not wanting cold food I asked for my order to be cancelled and the money refunded. They persisted that I wait for the food, however after further debate it was eventually cancelled and refunded.Zero resolution from staff, despite it being two hours after we ordered. Needless to say we will never order again. Not how I expect customers to be treated, particularly those who have always been loyal. Very sad.

Last minute visit, looking for somewhere to eat after a long day, Naka Thai pops up in my restaurant search with 5 stars and plenty of reviews, I can certainly see why! Great food, great service, great atmosphere, very welcoming, thankyou! Highly recommended, 5 stars from me

We ordered take out for delivery a few nights ago and were very pleasantly surprised. Both my parents are from the South East Asia region so are very critical of South East Asian food in the UK however they really enjoyed their meals. We ordered Beef Massaman curry, Mixed seafood Pad Thai, Pad Ki Mao - King Prawn, Red Curry - Vegetables and Coconut Rice. All the dishes were freshly and well cooked with good quality ingredients. The portions were very generous compared to other similar take aways. Service was excellent. Thank you, will definitely be ordering from here again!

Food is incredible, so fresh! One of the best restaurants in Colchester, if not Essex in my opinion. Staff can’t do enough for you, very polite.Always a pleasure to come back here, which we will continue to do.Would recommend this restaurant to anyone.
