Friendly staff, reasonable food at reasonable prices, big menu and decent beer. Delivers as a great pit stop pub. Plenty of space plus more outside seating for good weather.

Gave 2 stars as the place is cosy ,clean and nice, staff are friendly unfortunately the food was not to the standard, the pie was too hard, not much of a choice for vegetarians, no variety either, I had food poisoning after eating the Mushroom and ale pie( vegan version), chips were too soft to my taste and the peas were awful then again I probably do not like peas. Will not be going back to the place. Many thanks.

Lovely food, which arrives fast, decent price for pints. All very clean. Generally my type of a go to pub. Well managed space and decent music. Not much if anthing to complain about

Been to this pub 4 times now and have had a brilliant experience. Food portions are great, very reasonable on pricing and staff are very friendly. Perfect for couples or families.

Had the burger with two burger patties chips and onion rings. Ended up in hospital with acute food poisoning. Definitely wouldn’t recommend a place that pre cooks beef burgers it was dry and just not great at all. Customer service was good just not very passionate when it comes to hygiene standards.

Large, busy pub in north Colchester. Popular with groups, couples and families, this pub provides a selection of drinks and has an extensive menu of inexpensive meals, including starters/nibbles and desserts. It has character, with old beams and a cosy feel, and a lively atmosphere. There are a few screens to football fans happy, but these are not intrusive and do not dominate, so don't be put off if you're not a fan.The staff are friendly and helpful. It's probably best to book a table at weekends because it will be full. There are two sets of toilets but I don't know if there's one for wheelchair users. There is a large car park (free) with dedicated entrance and exit.

Lovely old pub with character, service was quick and polite. My Steak was tuff and fatty, chicken texture was strange .My apple pie was hot on the outside but cold on the inside. Would definitely go again for a drink but not to eat!
