The Hungry Horse - Swan Inn in Colchester

Always a great pub dining experience and excellent value for money, especially with the daily deals and being able to order from the phone app.

Fine for a drink -typical Hungry Horse and nothing special. Didn't eat there. Disappointing that red wine only sold by 75cl bottle.

We went on a busy day without reservation and we have been lucky that we got a table. Staff have been friendly, you can feel the Christmas spirit all around. Best nachos ever! So delicious. Other then that 4 of us had different dishes and all of us after the main have been full and happy. Really good prices too.

We reserved a table for 8 at the Swann Inn on Saturday evening, although the table arrangements seemed incredibly cramped which was undesirable. The food was nice and delivered to our table promptly, as well as the drinks. It is worth mentioning, we all ordered our food through the app which was quite handy!

The Sunday roast is absolutely delicious. Massive portions. Piping hot and excellent value as 2 for £12...Compliments to the chef! And thank you .We were very impressed and will definitely be going back

We have been to Swan Inn a few times, most recent visit it seemed like they had upped their game... its not fine dining, but it is good value and child friendly. Food is generally good and portion sizes are pretty good. Pub itself could do with a lick of paint here and there...Menu is varied with some slightly odd options - includes a burger meal with a rainbow bun and Vimto flavouring...!

Went here on a Saturday with the family for early dinner. The kids played on the outside play area until the food arrived. They each had a different kids meal and I went for a Saturday £7 big plate special offer. The food arrived in good time and was well presented. It was hot and tasty too. Now the only down point was the gents toilets which were filthy and smelt. There was no lock on the cubicle door either. Other than that it was a great visit. Staff were polite and friendly which always helps. Solid 4 stars.

I celebrate my birthday here every year, great value for money, good food and even better service.The drinks are very well priced and the place had a good atmosphere.I had the hunters chicken like I do every time I'm here and it can never be faulted. Great local.

Only booked here because i had use of a tesco voucher. I would not book and eat here again otherwise. The place is a little run down and grubby, also cold but not really their fault as by the sounds of it they were trying to get the boiler fixed.food took longer to be brought to the table, once arrived it did look amazing, tasted great and was hot, although part of the advertised ingredient was missing from the chicken meal, the servers were nice and friendly. There was one member of staff or assistant/ manager (male) sat or should i say lounging almost vertical in the main bar at the entrance looking like he might be doing some work. ( not really a good look) at least the other staff were presented well.
