A good local it has always been. But first time having a meal there is a while. Brilliant pie and mash! And genuinely the best pint I've had in months, from a brewery I've never heard of. Cheers Liam & Lisa doing a cracking job! A local to be proud of!

Friendly pub although short on alcohol free beer when we went. This was a shame for the designated driver in our group. I'm sure next time their stocks will be higher and look forward to our next visit.

Wonderfully cosy pub tucked away nicely from the main roads of traffic hell around Colchester town centre. Lovely wood burner welcomed me in on a cold, post Christmas Day and the staff were very welcoming too. Good range of ales, and lagers and was very quiet when I went in there in the Christmas holiday period so can't judge what it's like when it's busy.

The new management are friendly and helpful, the food is very good and reasonably priced and the atmosphere is convivial as well. They have a log burning stove which keeps the place really warm. They have just started making Sunday Lunches again which I have yet to try, but given the standard of the meals that I have had, I am sure will be excellent. Give it a try, I think that you will like it.

Best pub in Colchester. Possibly! Real ale on tap, relaxed atmosphere and friendly staff. Food limited but done really well.
