Have stayed in Mersea all week and eaten in numerous restaurants for lunch and dinner and this was our last night and we had been recommended the Peldon Rose Inn. Beautiful old pub that’s about the only nice thing I can say. The young waitress was rather rude and abrupt. The food was pretty diabolical. The steak burger was dry and the cheese had the most disgusting after taste. Needless to say we didn’t stay for desert and wished we’d gone back to the coast inn.

Food ok, but not lot of choice, definitely a pub for the older generation,. Music was very old, staff lovely, and quality of food was good,.

Popped by for a Sunday Roast with the family, they accommodated us as a walk in which was nice, all the waitresses were very polite, the small Roast was a good size although the lamb was a little lacking compared to veg and potatoes, we were sat in the extension out the back which is nice but a bit modern, I would have preferred to be in the pub as its more rustic with open fires, but we didn't book so that's my fault. Next time. 😉

Went to the Peldon Rose with my friend for Sunday lunch . We were glad we did , the lamb was melt in your mouth , the Roast potatoes were gorgeous, the whole meal was delicious. Friendly staff , great atmosphere. We will definitely be going again .

Stopped off after a walk in Mersea for dinner and was super impressed - the best battered halloumi I've ever tried (great veggie options). Can tell it's an authentic, popular local spot too, which gives the pub a nice rustic feel.

Afraid popped in for Sunday Roast at 1:50 , ask if booked, explained had phoned day before and told don't take booking after 1PM no tables available . Think communication needs to be better.

Lovely old country pub and hotel situated on the road to Mersea Island just before the strood causeway. Still has it's olde worlde charm. Currently the larger indoor seating area to the rear appears to be closed and the front entrance only is being used. Spacing between tables was reasonable and attentive staff all wearing masks. Food was good, the beef steakburgers were substantial with perfectly cooked fat chips. The desserts were delicious and good quality. Recommend it.

My wife and I stopped off at this lovely pub for a bite to eat and we have nothing but praise. We found the pub itself very cozy; the staff to be very friendly and welcoming and the food fantastic…… this is a pub not a Michelin star restaurant, so you may not get table cloths and silver service, but you will get fantastic food and a friendly welcome!! I’ll certainly return when I’m next in the area !!
