The Slug and Lettuce in Colchester

Hi I rated one star as my friend and I (both ethnics) were standing at the bar for over 30 mins and numerous people that evidently came in after us were being served first (all of whom were white) and no-one behind the bar was making eye contact with us. Our white friend came up to ask us what was taking so long, and shortly after we were then served. I have never felt discriminated against in any of the Slug and Lettuce chains as I love them, however, my friend and I felt very uncomfortable and singled out.

Good drinks, food and service! We were here for my birthday and received a free bottle, I would a 100% recommend. The atmosphere is really cosy

Service was awful. My friends and I arrived when it wasn't busy. We waited at the bar for at least 15 minutes watching other people be served before us, even though they came to the bar after us. My friend and I at the bar aren't white, whereas the majority of the other patrons were. When our white friend joined us the bar staff finally looked in our direction. You can draw your own conclusions from that.

Went into the slug for lunch with my twin babies. A lady called roz helped me get to a table with a bit of privacy so I could breastfeed through out my meal. And gave me a jug of water to make sure I didn't get dehydrated. What a thoughtful lady. I wanted to leave a review to say thank you to her.

Couldn’t fault my visit here. Food hot and tasty. Staff personable and attentive. Delicious cocktails! Very pleasant and clean decor. Would definitely visit more often if I lived nearer. 5*

Great variety of cocktails especially with 2 for 1 offer! Staff were very attentive and friendly and catered to all of our needs with no complaints or fuss. Quick service too! Defiantly will be coming back again.

Had the best time catching up with some friends for lunch. Cocktails are 241 and I think we tried them all! The staff really looked after us so thank you so much. We will be back for our next catch up soon!!

Amazing customer service and food and drinks (especially with the 2-4-1 cocktails) ! The whole experience from start to finish is great. Greeted with the biggest smile from the waitress (believe her name was Gianne) who has recommended us some good drinks (2-4-1 cocktail Cheeky Tikki). The food can’t get better and the prices are fair for the portion size. Always a great spot to get great food and top tier customer service. Keep it up!

Drinks are nice with the usual slug & lettuce classics on offer along with some Christmas specials. We ordered via the app and drink took over 30 minutes to arrive but it was a busy Saturday. They moved some tables to make a dance floor later on and the music was good.

National shortage on Margherita Arancini & Panko-crumb Calamari sticks. But, it's that's just me being petty.This branch of Slug & Lettuce, looks stunning, beautiful deco and a mission to the men's toilets.There is an upper bar area not the same area space as the lower floor.I had food:(Personal Food judgement:) Good Food, Drinks and Dessert menu.I had Salmon skewers and Fish & Chips (yeah I know - why fish & fish), go back to start of the review! Amstel was crisp and tasted good :)Great place to drink and eat, great for families.
