Visited on the saturday of Mother’s Day weekend with a table for 8. Considering it was one of the busiest days for restaurants, there was 2 people serving all the tables upstairs and downstairs.Thankfully we had a lovely waiter called Sam who kept our Mother’s Day meal a lovely one. The poor guy was run off his feet but still found time to be attentive and helpful. Just felt really sorry for them that there was so few staff on.We were there for nearly 4 hours to eat a 3 course meal! The food was lovely and the place was clean. But it’s not fair on your staff to leave them having to work with so few staff!

I wouldn’t normally leave a review but Sam was an absolutely fantastic host, despite being short staffed on a very busy weekend he made sure that we didn’t feel neglected and was extremely polite and friendly. He provided us with fantastic service throughout our visit and is a credit to Zizzi. Look forward to visiting again soon

Tasty food and good attentive service. The two course lunch menu was very good value, although choices were a bit limited and it was not publicised in the restaurant; we had to specifically ask if the lunch deal was still on offer, and were then given the menus.

Food was lovely, can't complain there, my only concern is the toilets need an over haul, burnt out light fittings, and a little rough looking. We had an extra meal added to our receipt, naughty!! Check your receipts before paying people.yes I would visit again

Menu was valentine's 3 course and was nice. Service was very slow once we'd ordered/ between courses. We had to go and ask for dessert menus etc and a few couples who came in after us got food a long time before us. The staff were friendly etc just slow

This restaurant has been one of my favourites for as long as it has been open.Went on Friday 14th January and it has slipped in quality.Management needs to tighten up both the presentation of staff and the overall quality of the dining experience. In a nutshell, The whole offer was down market.

Clean restaurant, the follow COVID guidelines well (you must order via your phone) and decent service too.

We visited Zizzis in Colchester with a table of 18 and had an awful experience from start to finish. Our table was nowhere near big enough for the amount of people, with 1.5 chairs per ‘section’ of table, causing a lot of us to be eating on join of tables (which were completely uneven causing plates to wobble constantly), and having barely any personal space. This, however, was only the start of the problems. After ordering, drinks took between 15-30 minutes to come out, some of them arriving after starters and some of them not brought out at all until prompted (including water). Later in the meal a bottle of wine was ordered which had to be chased after waiting 30 mins, only for a glass to be brought out instead. When that was sent back for the bottle we paid for, it took a further 15 minutes. Starters came out mis-matched, 2 people with the same starter sitting next to each other had completely different portion sizes (one double the size of the other, literally). No cutlery was provided at this point and we had to prompt for it once all starters were brought out. Even after this only a few pieces of cutlery were provided, perhaps 4/5 sets. Some people didn’t have starters and others had garlic bread and similar dishes so we we’re going to wait for the cutlery and started eating. After our starter plates were empty for about 15 minutes one waitress came over and said they wont bring out any mains until we ask for the starter plates to be taken away, so then that happened and mains followed about 20-30 minutes later. Unfortunately, almost every meal was burned, wrong or missing items. One particular calzone was missing 2 of the ingredients that made it what it was. Most people were so hungry by this point we didn’t want to wait for replaced meals so most people just left the burnt bits and ate round it, however one was so black it was too much and that one had to be replaced, when it was – it was again a VERY different portion size to the others on the table. The cutlery debacle continued during mains, after asking twice more for cutlery we were told they had run out, we had about 8 sets between 18 of us so we had to resort to sharing and taking turns eating our food, guests with pizzas borrowed one of the pasta dishes knives to cut up, then had to eat with hands instead. During our stay we witnessed the table next to us get up and walk out with almost all their food on the table still, we can only assume they had already sent their food back once before we arrived as they left shortly after ordering our food. All in all it was a very disappointing trip that ruined a celebratory meal to one guest.

Yummy food, a few vegan options (including one of the nicest vegan pizzas I've ever had) plus friendly staff. Took a while to bring us the bill but then used their qr scanning feature to quickly and easily pay the bill.

I was a bit skeptical about the place, as being Italian myself, I have a very high standard for Italian food. However, I was welcomed by a very friendly staff, who checked up on us every so often.Service provided is just what you would want from a restaurant. I assumed it would take a while for them to prepare my meal. However, my meal was ready before I could even finish the starter.I ordered cheesy garlic breads for starter. Have to say it was amazing, one portion is enough to share between three of us. Crispy with soft and cheesy taste, although I love extra cheese with my food, so a bit more wouldn't hurt... Again that's just personal preference. For main course, the primavera pizza was amazing. Again thin and crispy, perfect amount of sauce and mozzarella and enough toppings including black olives and spinach, to give a balanced flavour and a surprisingly amazing taste. As an Italian myself, I would say this is one of the best Italian style pizza I have had in the UK.Only complain here would be the goats cheese. There was a bit too much of it, I do love extra cheese, however, it felt like taste of other ingredients were overshadowed by it.I just had a hot chocolate, which was just like any other hot chocolate, nothing to special.Although there were a huge range of drink to choose from, I decided to stick with a normal Italian soft drinkThe presentation was top notch, again pretty amazing (you can see from the pictures)Overall, definitely worth checking this place out, easily one of the best Italian restaurants I have been to. With some minor tweeks, it can be as good as a restaurant in Italy.
