The Marchmont Arms in Dacorum

Beautiful setting, lovely helpful friendly french server, sorry i don't remember her name. A party of 9 most enjoyed the Mother's day set menu which had many add on extras.I opted for the Chateaubriand for 2 and was extremely disappointed at the quantity and quality, it was the worse 'Chateaubriand' i have ever encountered only distinguished as Chateaubriand fillet by a slight thicker cut than the beef presented on the normal roast and only 4 slices each costing an extra £16 for the privilege. The whole thing was very average, lots of the roast potatoes were hard and had obviously been cooked hours before. Had this been my first experience of Chateaubriand it was also cold, no way would i have it ever again. It has always before now with anywhere else that i have had it, it has been presented at the table as the whole fillet which any other time I have struggled to eat it all which actually has always justified the extra expense.I did ask the server to tell the manager or chef that this was a poor example of Chateaubriand and all we got back was, "well nobody else complained " so he basically refused to acknowledge our complaint. i feel the customer service matched the inadequate overpriced and over rated beef steak, that only vaguely resembled a Chateaubriand.If you have never had Chateaubriand and this was your first experience you would never know how nice it can actually be and would probably never try it again. Extortionate!Very disappointing.

Lovely looking venue, food was good, staff were nice but clearly fairly new as they didn't know the menu very well, how to re-lay cutlery or use the card machine so maybe more training with a buddy system would be good rather than trial and error with no support Infront of customers. Would return as the food is tasty and ambiance is nice for a meal with friends or family.

Overall, this was a very pleasant evening meal. After a long afternoon at the WB studios, this was very welcome for my group of friends. Service was pretty decent and didn't have to wait too long for each of the courses which was good for a Saturday night.

Really nice food, and good service

Great place, looks great and very clean. Lovely staff. A nice place to just catch and meet up with friends.Not a massive place roughly about 20 tables to sit around. The drinks were nice however i will say it on the expensive side. Went on a saturday night expected it to be open longer considering its a weekend however closed by 11pm

This is such a wonderful place. We had some lovely sides and starters and a cocktail. The bar staff are very friendly and extremely helpful there is such a lovely atmosphere. We would definitely recommend this place. Thanks for a great night

Had a lovely dinner there.We decided very last minute to go and the staff was helpful to find us a table.Once we were there, service was great and food was super tasty.Also want to mention that they have a great selection of non-alcoholic drinks. All together great Thursday night. Thanks, will definitely visit again!

I was recommended this place by a neighbor of mine who said that the food was great. The food was pretty good once we had sent back 2 of the 6 meals to get them re made as the first versions were a little lackluster. Sadly, for the girl who brought us the drinks, the whole venture started with her spilling a pint of drink all over our table. So it has promise and we will be going back to check the Sunday Lunch out. Staff were friendly, venue was classy

Really enjoyed our food here. Such a beautiful location. Looked amazing from the out side and didn't disappoint inside. Can't wait for a return visit.

Wow! The best nourish vegan bowl I've ever eaten. The food, value, service & festive decor outstanding. A must & have to try this establishment formal & informal dining. Menus are a superb variety caterers for meat eaters, vegetarian & vegan. As for alfresco dining I've yet to experience. Can't wait to come back. Thank you so much Marchmont Arms.
