Came to the anchor on Sunday for lunch with some friends and i have to say how amazing our food was i had the most juicy and flavoursome roast beef and those roast potatoes were crispy and delightful followed by the nicest apple and blackberry crumble I've had in years the service was great and attentive considering how busy they were all in all if i could give the anchor more stars i would cant wait to return

Our first and sorry to say will be our only visit, I don't want to bore you with a lengthy review, so will try and keep to the point. It was a night of firsts , table booked for 7pm we waited at the bar with no sign on life for 10 mins , that's ok we were early although she did ask us where we were sitting ( thought that was her job to show us to the booked table ) drinks ordered some deliberation as to whether they had Pepsi max ( I was driving ) drinks arrived and food ordered we both went for mixed grill , side of onion rings and a couple of sauces.Unfortunately the pepsi was completely flat so I returned it to the bar with I'm very sorry but this is super flat, she called her manager I then proceeded to watch him pour another , and another , and another doing this weird thing with the nozzle, then pour just water all of which were flat , I said look its ok I will just have water. I've never stood at a bar whilst someone tried to get a fizzy Pepsi for so long.It then occurred to me that not only did the guy taking the order not write anything down he didn't ask how we wanted our steaks , so my partner grabbed him and asked foe his well done , apparently they don't ask just do medium rare, the food took some time again not an issue, they have the grill on a black rock and the sides in separate compartments ( pics will explain) unfortunately they gave me the well done steak and it had to returned to the kitchen so they could swap the black rocks , this again not an issue but can't help but think had he had written it down it wouldn't have happened, one of the sides was peas and mushrooms these were stone cold, once again plates went back, on return I was again presented with the wrong meal and he argued that it was the right meal, I had to explain my partner had cut the end of his lamb chop so I knew it wasn't mine, again they were returned. Mine then arrived with no salad he did in fairness say they would do a fish salad, in this time we had eaten the onion rings and our sauces were cold. The peas were still cold and a piece of my lamb chop had obviously missed the heat and was raw , not rare raw when she asked us how the meals were , I said our peas etc are still cold , part of my lamb is raw all she said was I will feed it back to the chef!We then got to the steak and mine was very well done I couldn't chew it and my partners was medium well, so he got both.We gave up trying to eat and when she cleared the plates I said I do hope this will be reflected in the bill, she said she would get the manager to speak to us, he was serving so didn't expect him to come over straight away however he then went and cleared tables , at this point we got up and went to the bar.We said we didn't want to pay for the meals as they were so bad , again he wanted to argue the meat was ok.Never again maybe a bad day I don't know but honestly service was awful and check the pics it looked good , apart from the amount of peppercorns in the sauce ! Whole and inedible

Really impressed with everything about the Anchor. We had our Cycling Club Dinner and Awards Evening there. Service and food was fantastic and felt really safe in there given the current Covid problems. As one of the co-organisers, I have to say how much the venue helped us and took away a lot of the stress of putting on the event. They really do go out of their way to help. Will certainly be using them again for events as well as going there for a meal with friends.

Really friendly and welcoming. Took my daughters allergies / anaphylaxis extremely seriously. Catered scrumptious, delicious, huge meals for a group of 12 guests. Reasonably priced. Thank you and look forward to returning!

First time visitor & unfortunately wont be returning anytime soon.Group of 8 attended for a pre booked birthday lunch, including family who travelled from London. First time visiting this pub so we checked the website which showed an extensive menu with loads of options, however on arrival told due to Christmas season only serving a very limited lunch menu (we was not told this when we booked our table via phone and this information was also not on the resturtant website)Positives:* Cheery friendly staff* Clear covid signage & handsanitizer available, felt very covid safe* Lovely dining room, wonderful glass roof & very spacious* When placing food order we was asked about food allergies which was a nice touchNegatives:* Extremely limited lunch time menu (for example: they only had 4 homemade pies left, so as a group we had to negotiate as to who was getting them)* Appeared to be only customers, yet they messed up drink orders (for example: my sister in law requested a half pint of cider on from the tap, she was given a coke then a beer before she finally got the cider she requested!)* Food when it did arrive had wrong sides (my partner requested chips with his pie, and was given mash potato) - however waitress realised mistake and a separate portion of chips was sent to our table a short while later after the food arrived* Chips where huge!, more like wedges and for me tasted a bit like a roast potato (I was not a fan, but its personal taste as most of the other diners loved them)* Disabled parking signage not clear, 2 signs said disabled parking, 1 sign said cycle parking and another sign said no parking! (All signage was in the same small area)To sum up i believe this restaurant should be rated as a 3 star establishment. I was disappointed by shocking lack of choice, and service received - would of rated it as a 2 star but staff attitude, was very good.Would we return again? Not sure if I'm honest. But only if the full menu is served. Also I should add If at time of booking we had been told a limited lunch menu was being served, we would have gone elsewhere!

Lovely pub we popped into on the way to our mini break at Head Fen Country Retreat. We were hoping for lunch but they stop serving food Friday afternoon's?! We had some drinks and crisps instead. Would like to try back for food another time. Friendly service.
