Spectular as always. Top quality food with a casual and relaxed environment. My favourite was one of the side vegetables - carrot and sweet mash with butter and nutmeg.

A step back in time - in a good way. Wonderful service, classic dishes & the ambiance of someone's home. Superb wine list. An art gallery upstairs & paitings for sale in the dining room. A lovely snug with a fire for pre dinner drinks & a coffee & an armagnac afterwards. Loved it!

It's more of a cafe in someone's refurbished house than a restaurant. The food was mediocre and overpriced and we left the cafe feeling full but a bit outdone. If you do go I wouldn't reccomend the fish cakes with the sauce. Although the actual fish cakes were very nice the sauce just tasted like unseasoned milk which ruined the meal a bit. They definitely need a Gardener, the outside area was in such a run down state with ivy everywhere and weeds it would've made the whole experience and the price feel so much more worthwhile. Little touches like that we felt were overlooked.Needs improvement but would reccomend

The moment I stepped through the door of this place, I felt that the building welcomed me and this was borne out by the lovely owner and staff as they came out to greet whoever jangled the front door bell as they entered. Warm and cosy and feeling as if one were visiting family with distant relatives sitting at nearby tables. The food matches the place, being elegant and simple English cuisine done really well with lots of homemade additions like the pickles. All and very tasty. It’s something I miss. To my surprise we were offered seconds on meat and vegetables, but sufficient had been served. Three courses with wine was just under £50. What a super find!

Great food! Really enjoyed the roast pork and cauliflower cheese! Very beautiful garden outside.

Had an amazing meal here at this family run restaurant 2 weeks ago when on holiday in Ely. Lovely setting by Cathedral. Food was delicious and all freshly cooked. Husbands roast lamb was melt in the mouth gorgeous and my sea bass was sooo yummy. Only time we have ever been offered 'seconds' in all the years we have eaten out! Highly recommended.

Very lovely place. First time we been there. Food was delicious and wouldn't be able to fault it. Wine was excellent as well. Only thing, wish we would have had a better table than the one near the door, especially as we booked over a month ago.

Constantly impressed by the ladies of The Old Fire Engine House. We were part of a big party (and the challenges that brings), taking up two of the three rooms downstairs.Team were just lovely, pleasant and accomodating to our needs. The offer of second helpings was above and beyond - something I thought they only would do for smaller groups. The goats cheese was plentiful, as was the other starters on the table, the mains super tasty, fresh, filling and accompanied with lots of tasty veg. Please don't change.

A jewel of a place. A beautiful and characterful old house, now a long-established restaurant and art gallery. Afternoon tea in the garden - perfect. We’ll certainly return for dinner one day.

This is a charming place with a very traditional (hand written!) menu. Food was very good, especially the fish which was excellently cooked. Lots of art on the walls that proved to be a great conversation piece. It was delightfully eccentric with oodles of character.
