We popped in here for some lunch as we were in the area. Food was 5/5, really couldn't fault it. It was delicious. The service was great as well. The ladies serving us and behind the bar were very friendly and efficient. I have removed a star as we heard an inappropriate conversation between a senior staff member and a junior staff member about an HR matter and staff breakfasts in the bar area. It should have been carried out in a private room away from the public and in a more professional, respectful manner in my opinion. However, we would go back for the food and service.

Absolutely fantastic. Nice big room. Very clean. Staff amazing, nothing too much trouble and very friendly. Food was great, especially the breakfast. Will be staying here again.

The staff were so helpful and met our requirements for a birthday lunch for 11 ladies. In particular Lauren and Laura were great when I booked the event. Laura and Lesley made sure all went well on the day. The food was delicious and good value. Laura and Tom helped us to pay individually and saw us leave, a very happy well fed groupThank you all

We popped in here on a whim and were lucky enough to be seated without a reservation in the restaurant. Great central location and friendly staff. We had no regrets with our choice of Mac 'N' Cheese and Lamb Shoulder. Sadly too full to sample the dessert menu!

The food was good, as was the service. However, 2 gripes. (1) the ladies' toilets were out of order so ladies had to use the disabled toilet which needed a key. No-one was easily available to get this. Added to this it later transpired there were 2 keys (duh?) so someone attempted to enter while the toilet was occupied. (2) When paying the bill I was asked to present my card to pay the total without being given an itemised bill. As the total was MUCH larger than expected I asked to see my bill before paying. Another table's purchases were in the middle of the items we'd purchased. When I pointed this out the waitress at the till (not the one who'd served us) said "Oh, we're having a few problems with our tills" and corrected the amount (virtually halving it). If you know you're having trouble with your tills it would be better to print bills and ask customers to check them before asking for payment. I'm afraid the whole experience resulted in my leaving no tip.

Nice friendly staff and a beautiful building. We could not get any hot water to come through our shower and that was the same story from 2 other guests in other rooms. The food in the restaurant was microwave style food and not the best. Fizz Friday was fantastic at £10 a bottle and the atmosphere in the bar was very good.

Nice central hotel, comfortable bed and pleasant room. Bar/restaurant very popular with locals. Reasonable prices. All sights within easy walking distance: cathedral, stained glass museum and Oliver Cromwell's house.

Stayed the night on Christmas Eve. Great dinner and very, very friendly and helpful staff. 10 out of 10 !!!!Room big and airy. A USB charging socket would be useful and a simpler WIFI connection would be nice. All in all very enjoyable.

Amazing generous portions and the most friendly staff who were chatty and caring. Loved it and so did the dogs :) thanks

Had no idea what to expect. Located right in the heart of Ely, this hotel was unexpectedly excellent. Room was a good size, tastefully furnished and clean. Sure, some of the fittings were a little worn, but what hotel room doesn't suffer the same fate? No lift here and we were on the second floor, so bear that in mind when booking. Car parking space is limited, though we had no problems for the 3 days we stayed. Dined in the restaurant twice. Service was quick and efficient with the food rated between excellent and good. Staff were all pleasant, helpful and polite and my partner and I would certainly recommend staying here.
