Excellent food that was suitably authentic - the Japanese friend we went with gave his seal of approval... especially of the plum wine. Staff were great and they managed to successfully cater for both vegans and coeliac (gluten free) in our group- not an easy feat. Only downside was the lack of rice on offer in the evening- something to do with an issue with running the take away(?!) but apart from that I would certainly recommend a visit.

Always wanted to order from here so came for a quick takeaway before the covid restrictions were lifted.Excellent and fast service and food was ready quickly.As expected from other google reviews Mr Tanaka's did not disappoint and the food was amazing. I will definitely return for a sit down meal so I can try everything and look forward to the specials!Highly recommend 👍👍

The food was great, served hot, served quickly, and with impeccable presentation. Prices very reasonable and great portion sizes. Clearly using good quality ingredients. Comfortable, approachable atmosphere.Only thing I would say is that it wasn't immediately pointed out to us that although there is a small menu of the daily staples (which were lovely), you really need to turn your eyes to one of the chalk boards to see what's on offer today. It's only a niggle, and once we knew we loved that home made and interesting approach, but I think most people like to know what they're meant to be doing at the start. I'd hate to have missed out on what was on the board purely because I didn't know to look!That said, we intend to return and will know about this quirk next time! Thank you to the staff for a lovely evening meal

Amazing food! Shame you can't book so luckily we were able to walk in, but would definitely recommend. We shared some of the Japanese tapas, couldn't fault.

Excellent food, and great service. I loved the atmosphere. It is really good location, just in the town centre and there is a public parking just next door. Their hanging baskets are beautiful.
