Empire in East Hertfordshire

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants that I know of and I have been to many over the years. Great chef and friendly counter staff. I’m happy with my order every time.

When i arrived i had to wait and in the end call oit so some one could come and serve me. In the end the guy served me, dont know if i interupted there own dinner time maybe? Only got a chicken chow mein and it's full of bean sprouts. You can't taste anything other then water from the bean sprouts. Most of them haven't been trimed so the roots are still on them. The chicken is solid like it was yesterday's cooked chicken that's been re cooked! I use to use this place a few years ago and was lovely. I wouldn't feed this to the homeless it's that bad! Shocking really is. Money wasted down the drain for a simple meal been murdered.

Cannot really tell you how good the food is. I am still waiting for it after an hour of ordering at desk. Oh well, here's hoping the food is worth the wait. I'll add this and up rating to 3 stars. Food was good, not worth the wait though, hence 3 stars.

Went in this evening only to be ignored by the staff as they were too busy talking to another customer. Waited for 5 minutes, his food came out and they just carried on talking. Went to V & V Chinese along the road and the food was lovely

Have been coming here for 41 years, the food never changes and that's why we love it so much. Best Chinese takeaway ever.

We have used the Empire for years and have never had a bad meal. The only downside is that it can get very busy on a Saturday evening so you do need to order early or quite late. Even so it's worth the wait.
